First Dates’ Fred Sirieix overjoyed as daughter wins second Commonwealth medal
First Dates’ maitre d' Fred Sirieix is beaming with pride once again as his diver daughter bags another Commonwealth medal.
Fred was seen smiling from ear to ear on Saturday as his daughter Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix won a silver medal in the 10m synchro platform competition.
Proud dad Fred, 50, was spotted in the crowd with his son Lucien (Andrea’s little brother) as he took photos of his talented teenager at Sandwell Aquatics Centre in Birmingham.
Fred kept fans updated online with the hashtag #GoAndrea and described her diving as “poetry to watch.”
As the scores came in, Andrea and her diving partner Eden Cheng threw their hands in the air in celebration. Meanwhile, Fred was seen dressed in jeans and a vibrant red cap grinning and pointing in amazement.
It’s the second medal Andrea’s won at her first ever Commonwealth Games. The 17-year-old astounded viewers on Thursday after winning gold during the 10m Platform diving competition.
Soon after her gold medal victory, Fred announced he would take Andrea to New York. It’s the perfect father-daughter holiday and the trip will also celebrate her 18th birthday which is just around the corner.
“We are going to take her to New York in September when she turns 18. We’ll spend a few days there as she’s never been. She’s always wanted to go,” he toldMailOnline.
Discussing Andrea’s gold medal, Fred said it was deserved “after ten years of hard work and dedication.”
Recalling her Commonwealth journey so far, the doting dad went on: “Andrea totally dominated the preliminaries but in the final she started a bit slow. And you get nervous because all the girls up their game in the final.
“But she did what champions do and in her last dive she really turned it on and pulled a perfectly educated dive out of nowhere. It was her best dive ever. It was on the wire until that last dive.”
