Frankie Bridge Explains ‘Painful’ Reason For Turning Down King Charles’s Invitation

King Charles met the winners of the Prince’s Trust Awards in the Bow Room at Buckingham Palace today alongside celebrities including Nile Rodgers, Holly Willoughby, Fearne Cotton and Charlotte Tilbury.

Among the invited attendees included Frankie Bridge, 34, who had been asked to make an appearance at the event but was a no-show.

Taking to Instagram today, the Loose Women panellist shared her disappointment at not being able to meet the newly crowned monarch due to a root canal procedure.

In a video shared on her stories, Frankie began: “Absolutely gutted today. Yesterday I got to go to the Prince’s Trust Awards and I got to present an award to a wonderful girl called Shannon – who is just amazing and has overcome so much to succeed, have a great career and look after her two boys.”

She went on: “Today, I was supposed to be at Buckingham Palace with everyone else to celebrate all the winners. Instead, I was having a root canal done. I mean, what could be less glamorous than that?

“Although I think my dentist felt quite special that I was with him instead of King Charles.”

The former Saturdays singer admitted she has been in pain for most of the day.

“It’s just one of those things where I’ve been in pain for ages,” Frankie shared. “But it was literally the only date and time that he [the dentist] could do and that I could do.”

She concluded: “So no Buckingham Palace for me today. Just a good old root canal.”

Following yesterday’s Prince’s Trust prizegiving ceremony at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, award winners were invited to Buckingham Palace to continue celebrating their achievement.

Guests included Stanley Tucci and Nicola Adams, where His Majesty was treated to a magic trick by Dynamo, fist bumped Tyler West and was lauded as a “modern King” by singer Geri Horner and a “renaissance man” by make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury.

Yesterday’s awards ceremony at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane was also attended by some very high-profile figures, such as George and Amal Clooney, who were guests at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in 2018.
