Gino D’Acampo says he hasn’t been cancelled yet ‘because of his accent’

During his time onThis Morning, celebrity chefGino D’Acampo hasbecome known for sending his co-stars and viewers at home into hysterics thanks to his love of innuendos, iconic one-liners and cheeky remarks.

However, despite his risqué comments regularly leaving fans at home red-faced, the 46 year old Italian chef has opened about his two decades on TV, saying that he doesn’t “care” what he can or can’t say.

Speaking toThe Sun about his success on our screens, Gino explained that he believes he has so far avoided being cancelled or fired from his job because his accent and personality means that he can get away with being cheekier than those around him.

“I can get away with the accent and because I’m Gino and everybody knows me for a long time, I can get away with many things that someone else could not,” he said.

Meanwhile, during the interview Gino also gave his opinion on “cancel culture” after his fellow This Morning co-starsPhillip Schofield andHolly Willoughby faced backlash in Septemberover claims they “queue jumped” to see the Queen Lying-in-State.

“What they should do is instead of fighting the cancel culture is the way I do it: ‘I don’t care what you’ve got to say. That’s what I think. That’s the way I live my life,” he explained.

Gino’s comments come after reports that the BBC look set to sign the TV chef for the 20th anniversary of its hit show Strictly Come Dancing.

With his 13 years on This Morning, his title of 2009 King of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and his hit Road Trip series on ITV,a TV insider has claimed that the BBC are keen to sign Gino because of his “universal appeal” and his ability to entertain viewers at home.

“Every year the team behind the show want to get the perfect balance of stars, whether it’s for their sex appeal, humour, or if they are a particular draw for older or younger viewers,” the insider toldThe Sun.

However, Gino has previously spoken about the possibility of appearing on the hit BBC show and revealed that he was approached to appear on the series back in 2019, though turned down the offer because of the dedication it required.

“That show would require a lot of time and training. Who has got time for that? Not me… not at the moment,” he said.
