Glastonbury moment goes viral as fans are convinced they spot the Queen hiding in crowd
Glastonbury always attracts top celebrities and even royals, but fans this year have been left convinced the Queen was in attendance.
A captured moment on the BBC coverage of the huge event went viral, showing what looked like Queen Elizabeth II, 96, attempting to blend into the crowd during Robert Plant and Aliso Krauss' performance on the Pyramid Stage on Friday.
A fan watching the event on his TV couldn’t help but pause the moment he thought he had spotted her Majesty in the crowd.
The unknown woman in question in fact wasn’t our Queen, but certainly bares a very close resemblance to our royal leader.
She was wearing a bright blue coat with the hood up and wearing sunglasses which would make a good disguise for anyone trying to conceal their identity.
The fan took to his Twitter to share the still from BBC coverage and wrote: “The Queen has turned up at Glastonbury to watch Robert Plant. That disguise is fooling nobody.”
The tweet went viral leading many fans to be convinced the lookalike was in fact the Queen herself.
One wrote: “woow ! she’s needs to be really bundled up ! don’t want her catching cold !”
Another shared: “Well she's back in the saddle this week so I really wouldn't put it past her.”
While a third penned: “You go your Majesty.”
While the Queen may have opted to stay at home this tome round, her granddaughter Princess Beatrice did not and wasspotted enjoying herself at the prestigious event.
Beatrice attended with husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, however she was reportedly left red-faced when her card was declined at the bar.
The princess, 33, and her husband Edoardo, 38, grabbed some refreshments from the Pony Bistro bar on site, but faced an awkward moment when her card was declined, according to theDaily Star.
However, the princess reportedly brushed off the mishap and returned back to the crowds with husband Edoardo to enjoy the festival.
The latest appearance of the Royals isn’t the first time they’ve been spotted at the Worthy Farm event, withPrince Harry,Princess Eugenieand evenPrince Charlespreviously having attended in the past himself.
Prince Williamand wifeKatehave also expressed their desire to one day grace the muddy fields of Somerset and experience the festival for themselves, with the future King even joking that his dancing might one day “get him into trouble”.
The comments were made during a BBC interview back in 2017, with William admitting he’s “really into music” and would love to attend, but logistically it would prove problematic.
"Unfortunately it’s quite tricky [to go to concerts],” he explained.
