Grammy viewers left baffled by Madonna’s ‘new face’ as 64 year old takes to the stage

Fans have been left confused by Madonna's "new face" as the pop star was seen introducing Sam Smith and Kim Petras on stage as they won their Grammy 2023 award for Unholy.

Madonna, 64, was seen wearing a black blazer dress and maxi skirt over a white shirt and black tie.

The Vogue hitmaker tied her brown hair back in plaits as she was seen on stage with the Grammy winners.

Many took to Twitter to express their thoughts on Madonna's appearance, with one writing: "Whaaaaaat happened to Madonna’s face?! #GRAMMYs."

Another said: "Has Madonna been nominated for ‘Best New Face’ at this year’s Grammy Awards?”

A third shared: "Me attempting to ignore the fact that Madonna has a whole new face. #GRAMMYs."

"I’m sorry wtf is going on with @Madonna face? Wtf did she do? #GRAMMYs," one social media user added.

Before Sam and Kim accepted their award, Madonna shared on stage: "So, here's what I've learned after four decades in music — if they call you shocking, scandalous, troublesome, problematic, provocative or dangerous, you're definitely on to something."

She continued: "I'm here to give thanks to all the rebels out there forging a new path and taking the heat for all of it.

"You guys need to know — all you troublemakers out there — you need to know that your fearlessness doesn't go unnoticed. You are seen, you are heard; and most of all, you are appreciated.

"So now, speaking of controversy, it gives me great pleasure to introduce two incredibly talented artists who have risen above the noise, the doubt, the critics; into something beautifully unholy. Here are two Grammy Award winners, Sam Smith and Kim Petras."

Sam Smith and Kim Petras won the Grammy for best pop duo performance for their collaborative song Unholy, making Kim the first transgender woman to win the award.

“Sam, I love you so much and this song has been such an incredible journey for me,” she said.

Many saw Sam and Kim hug on stage as they won the award, and Kim also spoke of Madonna being their influence, which fans applauded on social media.

On stage, she shared: "This is a huge moment for me, Sam. Thank you. You’re a true angel and hero in my life.

"And I love you and everyone who made the song too. I love you guys so much. Sorry, I didn’t write down the names!”

"Congrats @kimpetras for being the first transgender to win a #Grammys Shout out to @Madonna for being an influence. #unholy @samsmith," one said.

“I don’t think I could be here without Madonna” same, girl #grammys," another wrote.
