Gwyneth Paltrow surprises fans with completely naked picture to celebrate turning 50

Gwyneth Paltrow has stunned fans after posting a naked photo with half of her body covered in gold paint to mark her 50th birthday.

The Hollywood star has often provoked a reaction online, mainly after launching outlandish Goop products, but this time it's a photo that has left fans surprised.

The actress and Goop founder, who is mum to daughter Apple, 18, and son Moses, 16, shared one of the images on her Instagram, simply captioned with: "50" with gold stars either side.

Fans and celebrity friends were quick to gush in the comment section, sending their well wishes and happy birthday messages, as well as praising Gwyneth.

Martine McCutcheon gushed over the image as she wrote: "If this is 50 then I can’t wait! What a woman you are! Thank you for sharing so much of what you’ve learned with us – You make women feel good and have empowered so many.

"What an inspiration you are! Lots of love from Blighty @gwynethpaltrow You rock!"

Naomi Watts commented: "Yes mama. happy birthday QUEEN."

And This Morning's Holly Willoughby wrote: "Happy birthday" along with a birthday cake and love heart emoji.

Meanwhile one fan wrote: "I mean!!!!! BEYOND! Happiest Birthday ever to such a beautiful soul!"

Another commented: "Happy birthday!! The most bright, light-filled years of your life are ahead. Love you my friend."

The photo follows another post by Gwyneth, jumping around the garden in a bikini. She also attached a blog in which she wrote about how she was feeling in regards to her milestone birthday.

"She wrote: "On September 27, I’ll turn 50."

The A-List star continued, talking about her body, writing: "My body, a map of the evidence of all the days, is less timeless. A collection of marks and irregularities that dog-ear the chapters. Scarred from oven burns, a finger smashed in a window long ago, the birth of a child. Silver hair and fine lines."

About how she would like to spend the next decade of her life, the actress wrote: "I would like to slow down. I would like to retreat a little bit. I would like to make my circle smaller. I would like to cook dinner more. I would like to see misunderstandings become understandings."

Gwyneth continued to say that she would also like to "say sorry" to anyone that had ever had a negative experience with her and that she also wished to share more of the deepest part of herself with her husband, "even if it scares" her.

The actress added: "I would like to fully acknowledge myself. I am imperfect, I can shut down and turn to ice, I have no patience, I swear at other drivers, I don’t close my closet doors, I lie when I don’t want to hurt feelings."

US Office star and writer Mindy Kaling commented on the Instagram post: "Your essay was so beautifully written. I hope I have the same ability to reflect and articulate what I learn! Happy birthday."
