Harry’s UK trip for Charles’ Coronation will be ‘fairly quick’, says royal expert

Prince Harry’s upcoming trip to the UK for King Charles and the Queen Consort’s coronation will be “fairly quick”, a royal expert has claimed.

Following the death of Queen Elizabeth last September, fans and critics of Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, wondered whether they would attend the coronation of the former’s father, which is set for May 6.

After months of speculation, a spokesperson for the US-based couple confirmed that they had received an official invitation.

On Thursday, it was revealed that Harry, 38, would be attending the once-in-a-lifetime event without his wife, who would remain in the States with their kids, Archie, three, and Lilibet, one.

Following the news, royal expert Omid Scobie, author of Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of A Modern Royal Family, suggested that Meghan could have stayed behind because of Archie’s fourth birthday, which is also on May 6.

“I understand that Archie's fourth birthday (also on May 6) played a factor in the couple's decision,” he wrote on Twitter.

Continuing his post, Omid further argued: “Expect it to be a fairly quick trip to the UK for Prince Harry, who will only be attending the coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey.”

In the comments, fans seemingly backed the 'Spare' Prince, with one person penning: “Yes. Turn that plane around.”

“Harry said he’d pop in and out of the UK for the Coronation. He gotta get back to his family in Cali,” another joked, while a third added, “Also, the only reason to tune in to this farce would have been to see what Princess Meghan was wearing. I thank the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for saving me the trouble.”

A fourth chimed in: “This is the best outcome. Meghan and the kids are protected at home and Harry fulfils the obligation to show up for his extended family's customs. Then Harry quickly comes back to celebrate Archie with his family in California. Well done Team Sussex!”

Buckingham Palace confirmed the Prince’s attendance on Thursday with a statement that read: “Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that the Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on 6th May.

“The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”

With the big day now just weeks away, plans are in full swing and include the first-ever Twitter emoji and confirmation that Camilla would be holding the controversial ivory sceptre.

Horses used during the Platinum Jubilee are being used once again for the two-part journey, which was revealed to be considerably shorter than the Queen’s five-mile route.

But planning such an event is not without its detriments, with sources close to the royals earlier describing the pure chaos of the schedule.

Speaking to The Mirror, they said: "It’s all very frantic, complete chaos to be frank.

“There is a plan, which is supposed to be the blueprint of how the day should operate, but things are changing daily which is causing massive headaches."
