Love Island’s Brad McClelland ‘struggling’ as grandmother who brought him up tragically dies

Love Island star Brad McClelland is "struggling" with the death of his Nana as he announced she sadly passed away last week on March 27.

The reality TV hunk, who entered 2021's summer series as a labourer from Northumberland, has shared a statement on his heartbreaking loss, as he reflected on everything his grandmother did for him since he was a baby.

Brad, who was reported to be dating footballer Harry Maguire's sister Daisy last year, also noted that his relationship with his nan wasn't the same as most, as she brought him up as his parent and closest family member.

"This has been hard for me to write and still don’t really know what to say as I’m still struggling to process it all," the 27 year old began.

"But last week my Nana sadly passed away and anyone that knows me will know that she meant absolutely everything to me.

"Mine and my Nanas relationship wasn’t like the usual Nana and Grandson relationship, my Nana wasn’t just my Nana, she was my mam, my dad and my best friend."

Posting a collection of sweet snaps from his childhood, Brad continued: "She took me in when I was just a kid and brought me up on her own.

"She gave me the best life she could and I wont ever forget the sacrifices she made to do that. Everything I am today is down to my Nana and I won’t ever forget that."

The star went on to admit that he "never really thought this day would come," and sadly had always thought "she would live forever," but he recognised that his beloved nana would always be with him in some way.

"She always said that she would never leave me but I know that just because I can’t see her doesn’t mean she isn’t there," Brad continued.

"She will always be here because her thoughts, her feelings and her memories are a part of me and part of who I am and I won’t ever let go of them.

"I love you more than words can say Nana and I’ll miss you more than ever. 29.07.1944 – 27.03.2023," the reality TV star added.

Brad also shared a recent image of the two of them together, as he leaned down grinning to hold a sweet moment with his elderly grandmother in her garden.

"Oh Brad I’m so sorry for your loss," Georgia Townend wrote. "Joyce will be so greatly missed. She adored you as you did her. Doesn’t feel like it now, but you will smile again, but in the meantime you've memories to cherish that will last a lifetime.

"Thinking of you, love always."

Winner Liam Reardon posted: "So sorry bro. Sending Massive love! She sounds a special woman."

"So sorry to hear this bro, sending all my love," Luca Bish shared.

While this year's bombshell Rosie Seabrook added: "So sorry to hear this, thinking of you."
