Helen Skelton, 39, signed up to Strictly Come Dancing following her heartbreaking split from Richie Myler, 32. The mother-of-three said she decided to put herself out there as she wanted to have fun and smile again in a move that’s set to open “so many doors” for the Countryfile host.

Ahead of her pairing with Gorka Marquez, a source claimed the presenter was open to finding love again.

They told the Daily Mail: “This is quite the opposite of the Strictly curse. Helen has already lost the love of her life, now she wants to find a new one.

“She cannot wait to get stuck into it all, she has been through the most difficult of times, so this is going to open so many doors for her.”

Helen and Richie broke up just four months after she gave birth to their third child together, daughter Elsie.

In April, she wrote on Instagram: “Very sad to say Richie and I are no longer a couple. He has left the family home.

“We will be doing our best to co-parent our small children.”

Helen concluded her post with two broken heart emojis.

As well as their baby daughter, they are also parents to Ernie, seven, and Louis, five.

Her ex has since moved on with girlfriend Stephanie Emily Thirkill, who is seen on his Instagram page.

Helen is currently throwing herself into rehearsals with professional dancer Gorka.

His girlfriend Gemma Atkinson, who competed on the show in 2017, has thrown her support behind the pair.

The presenter has also dished out some advice to Helen about working with her husband-to-be.

Speaking to Christine Lampard on Lorraine, she said of Gemma: “She messages me and tells me ‘just tell him this and tell him that’, and I’m like ‘thank God’.

“She’s done the show so she gets it doesn’t she.”

Gorka chimed in: “She knows how hard it is as a celebrity doing the show and also she knows how hard I can be sometimes and how difficult I can be being so picky with everything so she’s a good person to get tips from.”

Gemma and Gorka didn’t dance together on the main show, but grew close during the nationwide tour in 2018.

On Valentine’s Day, they announced they are a couple and welcomed their daughter Mia into the world the following year.

Tonight, Helen and Gorka will dance the Cha Cha Cha to Rain On Me by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande.

Last week, they scored 26 out of 40 points by the four judges.

After being contacted by Express.co.uk, a representative for Helen has denied the Countryfile star is hoping to find love again on the dancefloor.

They said: “Helen is on the show to learn how to dance and have fun.

“[She is] absolutely not looking for love. “

Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight at 6.30pm on BBC One.
