Hollyoaks star Sarah Jayne Dunn built special room for husband to film OnlyFans content
Sarah Jayne Dunn, who was axed from Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks after she opted to sign up on adult-content website OnlyFans, has shared that this was the "best decision" she's made as she reveals she's had a new room built for the purpose of creating content.
Sarah, 41, was sacked from the soap after more than two decades of portraying her character, Mandy Richardson.
She first appeared on the popular soap in 1996 before leaving in 2008. She later reprised her role in 2010 before exiting in 2011, only to come back for one final stint in 2017.
Sarah now makes x-rated content on OnlyFans, and last year was reported to have made a total of £700,000, with fans paying £12 a month for her racy pictures and videos.
Now speaking to the Daily Star, Sarah argued that joining OnlyFans was the "best decision I've ever made" before going on to discuss the new addition to her home.
She told the outlet: "We’ve just had a garden room built in the home which is a content room so I've got a little workspace at home now. It’s not quite decorated yet, I’ve spent all week painting the ceiling so I've got a crick in my neck but yeah, I'm gonna have lots of different aesthetics.
"I can do my brand collaborations for my socials, I can shoot my OF (OnlyFans) in there so I can do everything in there really."
She then revealed that her husband Jonathan Smith helps film a lot of her content, quipping that it's because he "knows what he likes."
Sarah spoke about her decision to make an OnlyFans account last year on Instagram, where she wrote: “[It’s] about empowerment and confidence and having full power over my choices.
“That’s what this is about, being in control, choosing empowerment. I feel sexy and strong and confident when I shoot images like this.”
“I hope I give other women the confidence to own it, to work hard on themselves, to eat well and healthily and to move their bodies in whatever way makes them feel most alive and energised, to wear whatever they like without judgement and to feel proud to be a woman,” she added.
However, while Sarah may feel "empowered" by her OnlyFans content, Channel 4 executive appeared to disagree, with a spokesperson saying: "“Hollyoaks is a youth-facing drama with many young viewers, who follow our cast very closely, both in the soap and outside of it.
"We take our responsibility to our young audience very seriously and therefore the show does not allow any Hollyoaks cast members to be active on certain 18+ websites."
The continued: "We had hoped we could reach a resolution with Sarah that would allow her to remain in her role as Mandy, but we respect her choice to continue to produce content on OnlyFans.”
“In the past four years since her return to the show her legacy character has been an integral part of some our most important storylines and we will be very sad to see her go.”
