Homes Under the Hammer star Dion Dublin ‘heartbroken’ after death of his sister

Homes Under The Hammer star Dion Dublin has shared the heartbreaking news that his sister has died.

The presenter and former footballer, 53, confirmed the news on social media that his beloved sister Carmen had passed away.

Dion has presented Homes Under The Hammer alongside co-stars Martin Roberts, who recently had a terrifying brush with death himself, and Martel Maxwelll since 2015.

Sharing a sweet photo of himself with Carmen and their three brothers Eddie, Clem and Ash, Dion wrote in the caption: “Yesterday we lost our amazing sister Carmen, the heartbeat & backbone to our family.

"Our hearts are truly broken, we will be lost without you.”

Many of Dion’s friends and followers offered their condolences for him and his family.

Broadcaster Dan Walker posted: "So sorry to hear that my friend. Much love to the family."

Footballer Peter Crouch shared: “Sorry to hear that Dion. Loads of love."

TV personality Vicky Pattison added: "I'm so sorry Dion… sending you all so much love.”

Dion had previously spoken about how his family share a close bond.

Speaking to The Mirror, he explained last year: “We all play music. I play percussion, my mum [Rose], when she was alive, played the mandolin and we’ve got Clem who plays lead guitar.

“Eddie plays drums, Ash, my eldest brother is a bass player and Carmen used to play the keyboards.

“I think if I’d taken up percussion earlier I might have gone for it…Percussion is my passion when it comes to music, and it’s something that’s come straight down from mum and dad."

Dion originally made his name as a footballer, carving out a career for himself at clubs such as Manchester United, Coventry and Aston Villa as well as playing for England.

Following his retirement from football, he made a move into the world of presenting, providing commentary on games for Sky and the BBC, before joining property show Homes Under The Hammer in 2015.

Speaking to the Express last year about his role on the BBC show, Dion said: “I’ve got lots of good memories, lots of good memories about [Homes Under the] Hammer.

“The main good memories are when you go into a house and when you don’t have to wipe your feet leaving the house!

“When you can go into a house and walk in when it’s not filthy!”
