Iconic Emmerdale actress sends fans wild as she teases TV return

Former Emmerdale actress Charley Webb has teased her return to TV screens, as some fans believe she may be returning to the long-running ITV soap.

Charley, 35, played the role of Debbie Dingle for 19 years, until her departure in 2021, with fans left devasted after her exit.

Taking part in an Instagram Q&A with her loyal fans the former soapstar was asked: "When will we see you back on our screens? Can't wait! [prayer hands emoji]"

Responding to this, Charley wrote: "Before the end of the year [TV emoji] [camera emoji]" and although she didn't reveal what her upcoming project is, many fans have urged her to return to Emmerdale.

Charley, who is married to fellow Emmerdale star, Matthew Wolfenden, confirmed that she had left the soap at the beginning of 2022.

Sharing a photo of herself, Matthew, and their three children Buster, 10, Bowie, six, and Ace, two, she wrote: "“This is always my most asked question but I’ve never answered it before because I’ve never wanted to make a big deal of it.

"I left to have Ace 2 years ago. I went back at the end of last year for 10 weeks to complete a storyline. So, I guess officially it’s been a year. I never felt the need to announce it which is why we didn’t."

And later in the year, she shared that she had embarked on a new TV project as she posted an excited mirror selfie, which she captioned: "Costume fitting today for my new job I’m excited for the next 2 projects i’m filming over the summer and to get back on screen."

Ahead of her soap exit confirmation, it had been reported that Charley had decided to exit the soap for good following her husband Matthew’s alleged involvement in a race probe on set which saw him suspended for a few weeks.

At the time, a source told The Sun: "Charley is closing the door on Emmerdale for good and won’t be going back. The past few months have given her time to think about the future and it is one that doesn’t involve Emmerdale.

"Matthew being caught up in the row on set fuelled her decision to step away."

However, this hasn't stopped fans hoping that Debbie Dingle may eventually make her return to the Yorkshire Dales.
