I'm A Celebrity's Owen Warner has no idea what A Place In The Sun is

‘I’m getting Joey Essex vibes’: I’m A Celeb’s Owen Warner leaves viewers in hysterics admitting he doesn’t know who Boy George is or what A Place In The Sun is in gaffe-filled launch show

Owen Warner left fans in hysterics as he made a series of gaffes during the action-packed I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! launch show on Sunday.

The Hollyoaks actor, 23, left fans in hysterics and was compared to 2013 campmate Joey Essex after he came up with a selection of hilarious one-liners during the show’s launch.

Notably, the actor revealed he has never heard of A Place in the Sun as he was introduced to the show’s host and his new campmate Scarlette Douglas.

It was then left to singer Boy George to fill the young actor in that A Place In The Sun is not an actual place but a TV show.

Boy George had already needed to explain who he was to the young soap star, who didn’t seem to recognise the legendary singer and asked for his name.

In the opening scenes, the 80’s hitmaker, 61, was the first celeb to arrive followed by Coronation Street actress Sue Cleaver, 59.

Owen was the third celeb to join the pair and said he had to keep ‘pinching himself’ as he made his arrival.

As Scarlette arrived last the Karma Chameleon singer Boy George told Owen: ‘She’s from A Place In The Sun,’ in which he asked: ‘Whereabouts?’

Boy George replied: ‘No, like the TV show.’

Following the funny moment, rugby star Mike Tindall joined the stars ahead of Ant and Dec appearing by boat to fill the celebrities in on their journey to camp.

Clueless: The Hollyoaks actor, 23, admitted he had know idea what A Place In The Sun was despite his new campmate Scarlette Douglas being the presenter

Dec revealed: ‘You’re not going to be making the journey to camp together. One of you has already been chosen by the public as a Jungle VIP.’

Boy George was made the VIP and chose presenter Scarlette to be his plus one for a delicious meal for two on a luxury yacht.

Asked why he chose her Boy George said: ‘Her outfit! She looks good, her earrings are great.’

Scarlette replied: ‘We’ll bring the glam to the Jungle!’

Awkward: It was left to singer Boy George to fill the young actor in: ‘She’s from A Place In The Sun,’ in which Owen asked: ‘Whereabouts?’ the himaker replied: ‘No, like the TV show’

Owen, Mike and Sue quickly boarded a helicopter jetting off into the jungle to face Critter Cruise collecting stars for camp.

During the trial he was seen knocking on a locked door, as well as poking himself in the eye after Sue joked that was one of the instructions in the trial.

Once safely at camp he had an enthusiastic response to spotting bunk beds and asked to go on the top bunk, asking Mike – who viewers think will soon clash with the star – to take the bottom bed.

Hilarious: Fans were left in hysterics at Owen’s antics during the show

Taking to Twitter during the episode, amused fans penned: ‘The biggest danger to Owen in the jungle right now appears to be Owen #ImACeleb’; ‘Owen is definitely giving me these vibes with the bunk beds #ImACeleb;l

‘OWEN TOUCHING HIS EYE IM GONE #ImACeleb’; ‘Anyone else getting Joey Essex vibes from Owen?? #ImACeleb #ImACelebrity’;

‘The fact Owen actually stuck his finger in his eye #ImACeleb’; “WHATS YOUR NAME” HUMBLE HIM OWEN YES #ImACeleb.’

He was widely compared to TOWIE star Joey Essex, who finished in fourth place when he competed on the show in 2013.

Leading this year’s lineup are Love Island star Olivia Attwood, DJ Chris Moyles, Loose Women’s Charlene White, comedian Babatúndé Aléshé and retired England Lioness Jill Scott.

It was revealed on Tuesday that Matt Hancock is also heading to the Australian jungle as a surprise late arrival.
