James Corden dishes the dirt on returning to the UK after 8 years

‘It feels very strange’: James Corden reflects on returning to the UK after eight years in LA as he steps down from Late Late Show hosting gig… and admits he ‘doesn’t know’ what’s next

He is set to bid farewell to The Late Late Show after eight years of the hosting gig, with the final episode airing on Thursday evening.

And James Corden has dished the dirt on returning to his home turf this week as he prepares to step away from the US – admitting that it’s a ‘very strange’ feeling.

The actor and presenter, 44, will be spending time more time with his family, but has admitted that stepping down leaves him in unknown territory.

He admitted to The Sun: ‘Right now, there are a lot of unknowns. It just feels very strange — knowing everything is going to change but trying to hang on to the fact that change is fundamentally a good thing.’

While James also shared his hopes that he hasn’t taken his wildly successful stint on the late night chat show ‘for granted’.

Reflecting on the last nine seasons on the show, James described it as an ‘incredible run’ while sharing his pride over not just the show – but all of his career milestones.

Unsure what the future holds, he explained: ‘I think I have to spend a little bit of time letting this all go. It has been a noisy eight years, and right now I am going to try and focus on having a little bit of silence.’

Buckinghamshire-born James – who made his name on TV’s Gavin & Stacey – is treated like royalty in California, where he enjoys a glittering circle of loyal A-list friends.

And one of those just so happens to be Prince Harry, with The Sun reporting that James’ even recieved a text from the royal during their interview.

As a message reportedly popped up from the royal, he allegedly told the publication: ‘Oh God, wouldn’t you just love to see these’.

And it’s not just the A-list he has managed to impress, with The Late Late Show bagging a slew of award nods.

James was even offered a reported £40M offer to stay on the show, touching on the ‘generous offer’ and why he declined this week.

Sharing: ‘It was a lovely offer from my boss but staying for the money would be the wrong reason to do it. You have got to keep changing stuff up.

Last year, the Mail On Sunday revealed that James turned down a ‘name your price’ multi-year deal from television bosses to stay in the US, with an estimated $40M on offer.

But turning down the offer, the star is looking forward to spending more time with his family, including wife Julia Carey and their three children; Max, Carey and Charlotte.

It was announced that he would be taking over as host of The Late Late Show – which made its debut in 1995 –  back in September of 2014.

The comedian was preceded by Craig Ferguson, Tom Snyder and Craig Kilborn, who had all helmed the program in the past.

Corden’s very first The Late Late Show episode premiere on March 23, 2015 with special guest Tom Hanks.

Since then The Late Late Show with James Corden has racked up nearly 1,200 episodes.
