James Nesbitt 'is helping to raise his girlfriend's new baby'

James Nesbitt, 58, ‘is helping to raise his girlfriend Katy Gleadhill’s new baby after the actress, 40, conceived while they were on a break’

James Nesbitt is reportedly helping to raise his girlfriend Katy Gleadhill’s new baby after she conceived the child with someone else while they were on a break.

The Cold Feet star, 58, split briefly from the 40-year-old actress two years ago, The Sun claims.

Katy then conceived with someone else – who is registered as the father – and gave birth to a daughter last year, it has been reported.

James is now believed to be growing close to the actress again and helping raise the little one.

A source said: ‘James is an amazing guy. Being with Katy is what matters to him and he understands the baby is part of that.

‘Most men probably think their nappy-changing days are behind them by 58 but he’s getting stuck in again.

‘It’s definitely a very modern set-up but everyone is happy and that’s all that matters.’

The insider added that even though the choice to have a child was taken by Katy on her own when they weren’t together, James cares about her and wants to now help.

James’ representatives declined to comment when contacted by MailOnline.

He already has two children, Peggy and Mary, with his ex-wife Sonia Forbes-Adams whom he was married to for 22 years before their split in 2013.

James and Katy were first linked in 2015 after she joined the Irish star at a string of showbiz parties including the Baftas – despite his insistence that she was not his girlfriend.

Later that year the actress later made the astonishing claim that she was married to Nesbitt after a bouncer refused to let her into the BBC Sports Personality of the Year bash at Belfast’s SSE Arena, an event the actor attended.

Her claim was all the more surprising given that Nesbitt was still a year away from divorcing his estranged wife, from whom he had separated two years previously.

The Mail On Sunday reported that a ‘sheepish’ James soon emerged and Katy was ushered inside, where she was heard ‘reprimanding’ the star for leaving her outside ‘for half an hour.’

Katy has previously taken small roles in Wire In The Blood and Titanic Town, as well as BBC Radio 4 drama series Two Doors Down.

It comes after James revealed in 2021 that he has been secretly living with alopecia.

In an appearance on The One Show, James explained why his eyebrows looked unusual. He said alopecia had impacted his eyebrow and beard growth.

The actor’s unusual look led viewers to speculate on social media why his trademark bushy eyebrows had dramatically changed shape.

But MailOnline then revealed he was sporting fake eyebrows applied by the hair and make-up team on his latest filming role, having just come off set.

A source close to the Irish star said: ‘James has no issue at all with having Alopecia.  He’s been living with it for some time and it does not affect his life in any way.

‘James has never tried to hide it while away from filming. But when he’s in character, it’s normal for make-up to be applied on that area where there is now no hair.’

James lives with the condition called Alopecia Areata which is a common but unpredictable autoimmune ailment which affects 2 per cent of the population in the UK.

It causes hair loss on the scalp, face and other areas of the body but in James’s case, the condition only impacts his eyebrows and small parts of his beard.

However, it was not a factor behind his highly publicised hair transplants, of which he’s believed to have had six – costing £20,000 each.

James was appearing on The One Show to promote his charity work with UNICEF, for which he is a UK ambassador.

He was chatting to host Sam Quek – who is standing in for Alex Jones – and her co-presenter Jermaine Jenas.

One fan wrote on the social media platform: ‘What is going on with James Nesbitt’s eyebrows? Did he draw them on while riding a unicycle along a cobbled street?’

Another jokingly penned: ‘James Nesbitt’s eyebrows are something to behold. It’s as if he’s fallen asleep and some mischievous children have got the felt top pens out

One other viewer jested: ‘James Nesbitt getting read for the show’ accompanied by a meme of a woman drawing on her eyebrows with a coat hanger.’

James has been refreshingly open about cosmetic procedures in the past, revealing hair transplants have helped him land some major TV roles.

Speaking in 2017 about his hair transplants he said: ‘I’ve just had my last one. I went public with it. I was very happy to be open about it. I just thought, “Come on, somebody is going to say it before I say it.”

‘It was something I struggled with. And that was probably the vanity in me. But also career-wise, it had an impact.

‘In terms of the range of leading roles I’ve had since then, it’s probably helped.’

James’s career has spanned over three decades, his most notable roles being Adam Williams in hit ITV series Cold Feet and Tommy Murphy in BBC cop drama Murphy’s War.
