JAY-Z's Net Worth Soars to $2.5 Billion Thanks to D'Usse, Tidal, Uber, and Many Other Ventures
JAY-Z may have “99 problems,” but his bank account certainly isn’t one. According to Forbes, the musician and mogul’s net worth has reached $2.5 billion as of late March 2023. “Even in a year without a tour or album release, JAY-Z mints millions from his Armand de Brignac champagne and D’Usse cognac,” the outlet reported. “JAY-Z’s assets range from entertainment company Roc Nation to a fine art collection including works by Jean-Michel Basquiat.”
In 2019, JAY-Z became the first hip-hop artist to ever become a billionaire. In addition to his music ventures, he amassed his billions through investments in companies like Uber, and his Marcy Venture Partners — named after the housing project in Brooklyn where he lived as a child — raised $85 million that year. “To calculate his net worth, we looked at the artist’s stakes in companies like Armand de Brignac champagne — applying our customary discount to private firms — then added up his income, subtracting a healthy amount to account for a superstar lifestyle,” Forbes stated at the time. “We checked our numbers with a roster of outside experts to ensure these estimates were fair and conservative.”
Over the past few years, JAY-Z has been building his wealth through a series of highly profitable sales. He sold Tidal to Jack Dorsey’s digital payment platform in 2021, per Forbes, and also made $750 million with the sale of his cognac line, D’Usse, in February 2023, per Hypebeast. His music catalog alone is also apparently worth $75 million, per Variety, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg! Let’s also not forget that Beyoncé is one of the richest self-made women with a net worth of $450 million, so together, JAY-Z and Beyoncé really could run the world.
