Matt Hancock, 44, will be a late arrival on this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and his place on the show has definitely ruffled a few feathers. Defending his decision to go into the jungle last week, the former Health Secretary said he hadn’t “lost his marbles” and wanted to “go where the people are”.
Matt is likely to face many Bushtucker Trials in the jungle after he was forced to step down from his role last year due to breaking social distancing rules.
Jeremy Clarkson, 62, is the latest star to take a swipe at the politician.
In his latest column, he wrote: “I actually met ‘Mancock’ the other day and have to admit he was charming, interested, interesting and extremely personable.
“I came away thinking that he might actually be normal.
“But then I noticed that he arrived in Australia for his (possibly brief) stint on I’m A Celebrity and had tucked his T-shirt into his jeans.#
“I never trust a man who does that. Because it tells us that he’s trying to be one of us. But I don’t really know how.”
Matt is reported to be earning £400,000 for his stint on the show.
He has vowed to donate some of his fee to a charity who supports dyslexia.
A spokesperson said: “Matt will be making a donation to St Nicholas Hospice in Suffolk and causes supporting dyslexia off the back of his appearance.
“He will also declare the amount he receives from the show to Parliament to ensure complete transparency, as normal.”
Matt will share the camp with; Jill Scott, Mike Tindall, Sue Cleaver, Chris Moyles, Scarlette Douglas, Charlene White, Babatunde Aleshe, Olivia Attwood, Boy George, Owen Warner and reportedly Seann Walsh.
Jeremy has been rumoured to be taking part on the show in the past.

In 2020, it was reported he could be amongst the celebrities in the first series held in Wales, but he swiftly shut down the gossip.
At the time, a fan tweeted: “I really hope @JeremyClarkson is going into @imacelebrity this year.”
He replied: “I can assure you I’m not.”
In 2019 however, he said “never say never” to appearing on the show in the future.
Speaking to Jonathan Ross, he continued: “We all say ‘no’ now because we’ve all got jobs.
“If you’re down the line and somebody said, ‘Here’s a hundred thousand pounds to go and eat some maggots,’ count me in! Yes, I’d go and do it.”
He finished: “When we’re old and in the way, you can’t say. Never say never to that!”
I’m a Celebrity 2022 kicks off on Sunday at 9pm on ITV.
