Jock Zonfrillo’s adorable reply to fan in last post hours before death

MasterChef’s Jock Zonfrillo seen in final video as show cancelled after sudden death

Since his tragic death was announced on Monday, fans of MasterChef Australia host Jock Zonfillo have been flocking to his Instagram to share their condolences.

However, amongst the outpouring of grief in the comments, his last interaction with a fan has been discovered.

Just two days ago he posted a promo image for the new series of MasterChef Secrets & Surprises featuring Jamie Oliver.

He captioned it: “The time has come for @masterchefau to kick off a new season filled with Secrets & Surprises! And Jamie Oliver of course!”

One fan using the handle @creativecakeartmelbourne responded: “Very exciting… (my son shouts out ‘Jooooook’ every time you appear on the advert!!!! He is even practising his Scottish accent!!!)” (sic)

In response, Jock simply posted a sweet laughing emoji, which at the time of writing has received 616 likes on the social media platform.

Of the comments, the majority are broken heart emojis, but a few people took the time to acknowledge that this was the final time that fans would hear from him.

User @stefyfahry wrote: “@zonfrillo so hard to believe that you are gone when you commented on this just a couple of hours ago,” followed by a broken heart emoji.

Another called _kee_kenzie_ayla tagged the original poster and said: “This just makes me even more sad now!”

A follower calling themselves @iamfauziana told the original commenter: “You’re a lucky person to have his last comment/words.”

This followed on from numerous comments left under the final clip that the celebrity chef shared on Instagram before his death.

The video is a teaser trailer for the latest series of MasterChef Australia which features both Jamie Oliver and Jock.

Jock says in the clip: “Oh stop it, you’re going to make me cry. We’ve just pulled another one to our side, it’s like there is one more of us and one less of them, I love that.”

Dozens of fans shared their condolences under the video, which was posted before the weekend, with Shefali Ganesh writing: “Heartbroken Jock.”

The award-winning chef and MasterChef Australia host was found dead at a house in Melbourne when police carried out a welfare check in the early hours of Monday morning.

Victoria Police have confirmed that his death is not being treated as suspicious.

The sad news was broken on Twitter by MasterChef Australia

“Network 10 and Endemol Shine Australia are deeply shocked and saddened at the sudden loss of Jock Zonfrillo, a beloved member of the MasterChef Australia family,” they shared.

Jock was born in Glasgow and started working in kitchens at the age of 12 years old. He moved to Australia in 2000 and went on to open several restaurants.
