Joel Dommett shocks with VERY X-rated joke about Elton John

‘Careers have ended for less!’ Joel Dommett shocks pal Maya Jama and viewers with ‘filthy’ X-rated joke about Elton John at the BRIT Awards

Joel Dommett made a jaw-dropping joke about Elton John during the BRIT Awards on Saturday night – sending viewers at home into a frenzy.

The comedian, 37, took a risk when he revealed he was wearing a piano suit and ‘looked ready to be fingered by Elton John’, during the ceremony.

Maya Jama, who was sat beside him, couldn’t hide her horror when he dropped the clanger and pulled a totally shocked expression as Joel laughed it off.

Discussing his suit, Joel said: ‘I love wearing the mad suits here as well, it’s a proper party. It continues the party.’

Looking down at his black blazer with white lapels, he said: ‘Tonight I feel like a piano, I’m ready to be fingered by Elton John.’

Omg! Joel Dommett made a jaw-dropping joke about Elton John during the BRIT Awards on Saturday night – sending viewers at home into a frenzy

The joke happened shortly after the show was thrown into chaos due to a technical difficulty, as they showed an old recording of Adele at last year’s ceremony.

To kill more time, Mo then interviewed Joel, Maya and AJ Odudu on the ITV table.

But Mo may have been left regretting his choices after audible gasps could be heard following Joel’s very racy joke about the Rocket Man singer, 75.

As well as Maya’s horrified reaction, many viewers shared their thoughts on the matter, with some branding it ‘hilarious’ while others called for the end of his career.

One said: ‘Maya Jama’s reaction to Joel Dommett’s joke about looking like a piano is PRICELESS.’

While another didn’t quite see the amusement, and said: ‘Oh my life, completely unnecessary Elton John related filth from Joel Dommett there…

‘People’s careers have been finished for less..’

Unbelievable: Elton was the punchline to Joel’s very X-rated joke

Some linked it to Mo’s hosting gig and said that the joke was far funnier than any of the gags Mo had told throughout the evening.

One said: ‘I like Mo a lot but thought he was terrible tonight. Felt like he’d been told to play it really safe.’

Another said: ‘Agreed. Not exactly a good thing when Joel Dommett tells the joke of the night.’

One other said: ‘Joel Dommett throwing Mo Gilligan a bone there and Mo just doing doing about it, brilliant stuff.’

A different person raged: ‘What the hell Joel Dommett. Seriously the [alcohol] needs to be cut.’

One other branded the BRIT Awards an ‘absolute trainwreck’ as they referenced the other gaffes from the night, which included Mo calling Lewis Capaldi ‘Sam’.

Another added: ‘Just when I thought the BRITs had hit absolute rock bottom, Joel Dommett said he is waiting for Elton John to finger him cos his piano jacket… you couldn’t make this stuff up.’

One other recalled: ‘Remember the outrage for days when Julian Clary did the fisted by Norman Lamont gag but now Joel Dommett does a getting fingered by Elton John gag and nobody even acknowledges it. Times change eh.’

Earlier in the evening, Mo was forced to apologise to Lewis Capaldi after fluffing his introduction to his performance by calling him Sam Capaldi.

Lewis was one of the first live performers to take to the stage during the ceremony to sing his recent hit Forget Me.

But show host Mo, 34, made a blunder by introducing Lewis as Sam Capaldi, perhaps getting his first name mixed up with fellow BRITs attendee Sam Smith.

Mo said: ‘Here with his number one single Forget Me it’s the brilliant – go crazy – Sam Capaldi.’

Lewis appeared unperturbed by the mishap, getting straight on with his live vocal performance.

Recognising his mistake, Mo apologised for the mix up after Lewis’s performance.

He said: ‘I have to apologise, I did call him Sam. It just goes to show how strong the drinks are at the brit awards, they are not playing around.’

Viewers at home were quick to take to Twitter after hearing the mistake to mark the moment.

One person wrote: ‘IM STILL CRACKING UP WILL THE REAL CAPALDI PLEASE STAND UP!’

Another viewer posted: ‘LOL at the woman nearly dropping her Prosecco when ‘SAM’ Capaldi was mentioned… hahaha.’

Someone else tweeted: ‘I have to say Sam Capaldi totally smashed the brits tonight!!’

‘Sam Capaldi was good but u think Lewis Smith will steal the show,’ posted another viewer.

Someone else shared: ‘Sam capaldi did great there!’

While another viewer shared: ‘@LewisCapaldi well done Sam Capaldi cracker performance.’
