Kate and Meghan Are Reportedly "Pitted Against One Another" in the Sussex Docuseries
The Sussexes’ new docuseries Harry & Meghan is dropping in 3, 2, 1 on Netflix, and there’s fear that Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle will be “pitted against one another.”
The Telegraph reports that the duchesses “are expected to be placed side-by-side in the six-part documentary” as a way to emphasize that the Sussexes had “no choice but to leave royal life.”
The outlet adds that the media’s coverage of Kate and Meghan will be “examined,” and there will be additional insight from “talking heads” about their lack of protection from the press. These interviewees (whose names have yet to be revealed) will reportedly go deeper into Prince Harry’s claims that there is an “invisible contract” between the royals and the tabloid media in England.
One source tells The Telegraph, “People are now acting like the princess has never had any bad press. That, and the idea that Meghan wasn’t defended, is simply not true.” Meanwhile, another insider adds, “Here we go again.”
Reminder: Harry & Meghan will be six full episodes and is described as “unprecedented and in-depth.” According to Netflix, the series will “explore the clandestine days” of Harry and Meghan’s early courtship, as well as the “challenges that led to them feeling forced to step back from their full-time roles in the institution.”
It’s still unclear who the docuseries secured for additional interviews, but the show’s press released notes they’ll be joined by “historians who discuss the state of the British Commonwealth today and the royal family’s relationship with the press.” The first three episodes of the show drop on December 8, so get ready!
