Kate Middleton dazzles in late Queen’s earrings at wedding reception

Kate Middleton once again showcased her timeless sense of style as she dazzled guests while attending a royal wedding reception in Amman, Jordan.

The Princess of Wales, accompanied by her husband Prince William, attended a lavish reception on Thursday following the wedding of Jordan’s Crown Prince Al Hussein and Saudi Arabian architect Rajwa Al Saif.

To mark the special occasion, Kate sported a stunning but modest floor length gown complete with long sleeves and covered in row upon row of bronze sequins.

The gown was designed by Jenny Packham, and is the “Georgia” model that Kate has previously sported in the past in another colour way – emerald green while attending the Royal Variety Awards in London.

While the gown alone was sure to turn heads, it was actually her jewellery choices that drew the eyes of many fans, as a pair of earrings worn by Kate were soon identified as a pair that previously belonged to the late Queen Elizabeth.

The iconic Greville chandelier earrings were a staple of the Queen’s formal wardrobe throughout her life, after originally being gifted to her by the Queen Mother as a wedding present when she married Prince Philip.

The Queen Mother had received the stunning Cartier earrings from Mrs. Greville back in 1942, with the jewellery still a precious possession within the royal family today.

Comprised of diamond and platinum, the stunning drop earrings were initially a small drop pair when created in 1918, but over the course of the following ten years, they were soon lengthened, with 12 additional diamonds added in 1922, before a further 10 were introduced in 1929.

Kate completed her look with a Prada clutch bag, the Lover's Knot Tiara, and her Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order sash.

The Princess was just one of several high profile guests in attendance at the royal wedding on Thursday, as the Middle Eastern couple tied the knot in an Islamic ceremony known as a katb ketab.

Following the formal ceremony, over 140 guests came together to celebrate the marriage, including US first lady Jill Biden, Princess Hisako of Japan and Princess Tsuguko, Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, King Philippe and Princess Elisabeth of Belgium and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark.

Kate was also joined by William’s cousin Princess Beatrice, alongside her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

The royal couple have a longstanding connection to the royal family of Jordan, with Queen Rania even serving on the council of William’s Earthshot Prize.

The country also holds a special connection to Kate in particular, as she previously lived in Jordan for two years as a child.
