Kate Middleton to wear special tiara for the first time since 2019 at huge event

Kate Middleton and Prince William are set to join King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla when the King hosts the first state visit of his reign next week – and the new Princess of Wales will sport a special item at the event.

The royal family is set to host the President of South Africa, President Ramaphosa, on Tuesday 22 November.

William and Kate will greet him at the Corinthia Hotel on Tuesday morning, before the trio travel to the Royal Pavilion to be greeted by King Charles and Queen Camilla.

An official occasion calls for the royals to be at their best dressed, and fans have been speculating as to what tiara Kate will wear, as royals over the years, including the late Queen Elizabeth, have donned precious family heirlooms for such events.

There will be a state banquet – the first since 2019 due to the Coronavirus pandemic – on Tuesday evening, where both King Charles and the South African President are expected to make speeches, in what will be a historical event.

The excitement has had royal fans rushing to Twitter to guess what Kate will be wearing, with one royal fan tweeting: "Just to let you all know this officially means we'll see Kate in a tiara next week! Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think she's worn one since December 2019? That's three years people!"

Another wrote: "I’d love to see her wear her wedding tiara again," referring to the Cartier Halo Tiara, a which has been loved and worn by royals such as the Queen's sister, the late Princess Margaret.

Charlotte White, the head of design at Europe's largest online diamond jeweller 77 Diamonds, previously revealed: "For her wedding in 2011, Kate borrowed the Queen’s Cartier Halo tiara, commissioned by George VI in 1936 for his wife, the late Queen Mother, and which was later given to the Queen to mark her 18th birthday."

As two of the four most senior members of the royal family, Kate and William have been undertaking many of the royal duties, especially since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle quit royal life in 2020, and following the death of the Queen on 8 September.

In October, the royal family released a new official portrait of King Charles, Camilla Queen Consort, Prince William and Kate, which indicated the new path for the monarchy, and Charles' wish for a slimmed-down version after he became King.
