Love Island star reveals Shaq broke down on movie night because of unaired argument

Love Island star Martin Akinola has spilled the beans on the real reason behind Shaq Muhammad ’s tears on movie night, after the star was spotted emotionally breaking down in scenes aired on the popular ITV show.

Speaking on the Reality with Will Njobvu podcast, dumped Islander Martin told the show’s host that Shaq had broken down after a heated argument he had with the star, which didn’t make it onto our screens.

The explosive argument over their shared affection for bombshell Tanya Manhenga soon came to a head during Martin’s final days in the villa, with emotions and tensions both running high in the days following Casa Amor.

Speaking for the first time about the row, Martin told Will and co-host Coco Sarel, exactly what had taken place on Movie Night.

“They didn’t show it, because like, you know on Movie Night everyone had their own sections and stuff? And mine was called ‘There’s something about Martin.’ It was when I said the two star, five star comment.”

Will responded, “Oh yeah! Do you remember? When Tanya said something like, compare you to Shaq…”

Martin then replied: “Yeah! Because she was comparing me to Shaq and I said ‘Two star, five star’ I can’t remember what it actually was. I never said that Shaq was two star. I just said that ‘Do you want to two star me, or five star me?’ “

According to Martin’s account, Tanya then asked him “Are you a five star?” prompting him to respond by telling her “Decide yourself.”

After the clip was played during movie night for the Islanders, but not viewers at home, Shaq reportedly said: “You're a five star, but I took your girl back.”

Unwilling to be drawn into a public argument, Martin and Shaq then headed off for a debrief, before Martin shared some home truths with his fellow Islander, which he recounted on the podcast.

“Listen, number one, your girl was only like five for the first thirty five minutes of our first conversation. And number two, I told her she doesn’t love you and she didn’t agree or disagree with it,” recalled the star.

He then admitted that’s when things began to get heated, with Shaq telling him “Listen, I’m just so pissed.”

Martin then went on to explain exactly what had taken place between himself and Tanya during Casa Amor, which revealed one surprising truth, Tanya had been lying to Shaq about what had happened.

Tanya told Shaq that what she and Martin had shared was just “a peck” and that “she wasn’t attracted to Martin initially”, which Martin admitted himself was a lie.

He then explained the entirety what had happened to Shaq, with the pair finally able to shake it out and sort out their differences with an honest, even if awkward, clean slate.

In a shock twist, Martin then revealed that Shaq’s tears following movie night, when he stepped outside of the villa some air, were actually due to what his fellow Islander had told him, and not the revelations from movie night itself.

“Do you know what? He was crying that night and everyone thought it was because of the movie night, but really he was crying because of what I told him.," confessed the star.
