Katie Holmes Gushes Over Talented Daughter Suri Who Makes Singing Debut in Her New Movie

‘The Secret: Dare to Dream’ actress, who shares the 16-year-old girl with ex-husband Tom Cruise, reveals that she and her daughter have a special connection to ‘Blue Moon’, a song that the latter sang for ‘Alone Together’.

AceShowbizKatie Holmes is a proud mama. “The Secret: Dare to Dream” actress could not help but gush over her “talented” daughter Suri Cruise after the latter made her singing debut in her new movie “Alone Together“.

“I always want the highest level of talent,” the 43-year-old told Yahoo! Entertainment. “So I asked her! She’s very, very talented. She said she would do it and she recorded it, and I let her do her thing. That’s the way I direct in general: It’s like, ‘This is what I think we all want – go do your thing.’ “

Katie went on to note that Suri was previously involved in another project. “She actually did sing in Rare Objects, which is the film we did last fall,” she divulged. “Other than that, she’s a 16-year-old kid doing high school.”

Katie additionally revealed that she and Suri have a special connection to “Blue Moon”, a song that the latter sang for the project. She said she was inspired to write “Alone Together” by the 1987 Diane Keaton comedy “Baby Boom”. Diane herself covered the classic ballad in 2014’s “And So It Goes“.

“Diane met my daughter when she was a year old,” Katie, who shares Suri with ex-husband Tom Cruise, claimed.

Despite having a famous mom, Suri has mostly stayed out of the spotlight since entering her teenage years. In a piece for Vogue Australia’s November 2020 issue, Katie reflected on how the COVID-19 pandemic provided an opportunity to “live for a moment in time without the pressure of results,” adding that the “natural rhythms of mother and daughter was the most precious gift.”

“During this time of uncertainty, remembering to be creative and positive has been something I have tried to keep at the forefront of my mind,” she elaborated. “Throughout this experience the through-line for me has been a heightened awareness of each moment and really taking it in and appreciating it.”
