Kendall Jenner is called out for distancing herself from nepotism

Kendall Jenner is called out for trying to distance herself from being a ‘nepo baby’ as KUWTK footage from 2010 reemerges of mom Kris Jenner calling Wilhelmina Models to help launch her career

Kendall Jenner is receiving online backlash after making comments attempting to distance herself from nepotism.

In a new interview with the Wall Street Journal, the 27-year-old supermodel – who is rumored to be dating Bad Bunny – discussed her discomfort with fame and revealed she doesn’t feel like a ‘Kardashian.’

‘I understand that I fall under the umbrella of the Kardashian sisters. It’s just weird to me because I am just like my dad in so many ways,’ she said.

In another part of the profile, Kendall said, ‘I consider myself one of the luckiest people on the planet to be able to live the life that I live, but I do think that it’s challenging for me a lot more than it’s not.’

Critics took to social media to highlight the contradictions of Jenner’s comments in the article, which was titled How Kendall Jenner Wants to Ditch the Nepo Baby Playbook.

And since the piece came out, old footage from a scene of an early episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians has reemerged on social media.

The outtake shows Kendall’s mom, Kris Jenner, securing her a meeting with agency Wilhelmina Models.

Jenner is just a teenager in the clip, busying herself with an ice pop and her cell phone as her mom enters the room as says, ‘So guess who just called me. Wilhelmina modeling agency. They would love to have a meeting with you.’

Then, in a confessional interview, Kris admits: ‘I spent the last two days calling everybody I know so that I can make sure that I set Kendall up with the best modeling agency possible.’

She adds, ‘This is actually a really big deal and I’m so surprised this is happening so fast for her.’

The snippet has been posted with a more recent clip from a Keeping Up With The Kardashians reunion in which Kendall insists she achieved her modeling success independently from her family.

While being interviewed by Andy Cohen, Kendall stresses, ‘I took my last name off of my name on all my modeling cards so that I was taken completely seriously.

‘I mean, I literally went to the middle of nowhere castings. I definitely worked my way to where I am now.’

She added, ‘I think it’s just a perception that people have that I just was like, “Give it to me” and I had it. It definitely was not that.’

Another person highlighted the cost of the designer tank top Kendall wore in one of the WSJ photos, which had a $1,150 price tag.

It was listed next to the quote of the star saying that her life as a famous person is ‘challenging.’

‘OK the quote followed by the price of her tank top has me so [dead],’ the Twitter user said, adding a string of skull emojis.

Elsewhere in the publication, the LA native noted: ‘Since I was really young, I felt out of place in my family.

‘I was born into this life, but I didn’t choose this life. I’m not built for this by any means. I’m not good at it. I do it, and I’ve learned how to do it.’

‘I’m not going to sit here and say, “Poor me,” but I do think that it’s pretty intense. People are more mean to my family in general. They take everything and make it a bad thing.’

Kendall compared her dislike of the spotlight to her older sister Kim Kardashian’s comfort with attention.

‘I think she was built for this,’ Jenner mused.

‘It took me [almost] 20 years to be like, “Okay, I guess I’m getting used to [the media spotlight] now and it’s fine and I get it.”‘
