King Charles told Harry not to bring wife Meghan Markle to Balmoral when Queen died

King Charles told Prince Harry "not to bring wife Meghan Markle" to Balmoral when the Queen died, it's claimed in Harry's bombshell new memoir.

Harry's new book, Spare, is set to be released on 10 January, however, many of its most explosive details have already been leaked, including Harry's accusations that his brother Prince William "attacked" him, and private conversations between the two brothers and King Charles.

Hours before Queen Elizabeth died on 8 September, senior members of the Royal Family, including Prince William and his uncles, Prince Edward and Prince Andrew, scrambled on a jet to get to the Queen's bedside in Scotland, but Harry noticeably arrived hours later on his own plane.

The late Queen's two eldest children, King Charles and Princess Anne were already by her bedside in Scotland and were with her in her final hours.

Coincidentally, Harry and Meghan were in the UK on a tour at the time of the Queen's death, but after announcing that they would both fly to Balmoral, Scotland, Harry ended up making the journey alone – something which he blames on his father, King Charles, who allegedly told Harry that Meghan was not welcome.

In his new memoir, Prince Harry explained: "Then my father called again. He told me I was welcome at Balmoral, but… without her.

"He started to explain his reasons, but they didn't make any sense at all, and it was disrespectful as well. I did not tolerate it from him.

"Don't even think about talking about my wife like that.

"Repentant, he said, stammering, that he simply didn't want the place to be full of people. Nobody's wife was going to go, not even Kate, he told me, so Meg shouldn't either."

OK! has contacted Buckingham Palace for comment.

By the time Prince Harry had landed at Balmoral, the Queen had passed away, a fact he claims to have learned about on the BBC website.

In his memoir, the Duke of Sussex even shared the poignant moment he visited his grandmother for a final time following her death aged 96.

He said that Princess Anne led him to his grandmother's bed, where he said his last words to the late monarch, to whom he had been so close.

He said: "I stayed in one place without moving, gazing at her for a long time, gathered strength and continued going forward."

The Duke then recalled how he "whispered to her that I hoped she was happy and that she was with grandpa".

He also said he told her he "admired her for having carried out her functions to the end… the Jubilee, welcoming the new Prime Minister".

One of the most sensational claims to come out of Harry's new book is that Prince William "physically attacked" Harry in a 2019 argument at his then-home Nottingham Cottage in London.

In a leaked extract, obtained by The Guardian, Harry alleged that Prince William "knocked" him to the ground and called Harry's wife Meghan "rude", "abrasive" and "difficult."

Harry is now set to speak out all about his upcoming book Spare in an interview with ITV's Tom Bradby, which is due to air this Sunday, 8 January.
