Steph’s Packed Lunch show shake-up as TV legends reunite to replace her

Steph McGovern will be temporarily stepping back from her Channel 4 chatshow again next week – opening the doors to some guest hosts.

Just last month, Line of Duty actress Anna Maxwell Martin replaced the 41 year old on Steph's Packed Lunch, but now it's Denise Van Outen and Johnny Vaughan's turn, who first worked together on The Big Breakfast.

They're pencilled in to present Steph's Packed Lunch on Tuesday, June 12, marking the first time they've collaborated on screen since 2004's Passport to Paradise.

"We speak all the time and we keep saying we need to do something together and this just feels like the perfect time for us. I can't wait, I'm so excited!" said Denise, 49.

Denise and Johnny, 56, reconnected during the UK's Covid-19 lockdown after years of social tumbleweed.

The former told Mirror Online: "It would be nice to do something [together]. Johnny and I have had a bit of a rocky relationship over the years for various reasons and, funnily enough, we've messaged a lot in lockdown.

"These situations make you reflect and realise some of the silly niggles and arguments you have are just not worth it."

Divulging more of the finer details, Denise told the Loose Women prior to that: "I had a big fallout with Johnny Vaughan when we worked on The Big Breakfast. The whole relationship fell apart when we renegotiated our contracts. I thought we were a team, we were the show together.

"There were other things involved, agents and stuff. Johnny was negotiating separately and I found out. For me it was tarnished. I knew our relationship would never be the same That's why I left the show."

In other news, talkshow host Steph is a longtime target of the I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! casting department, but a health condition has forced her to decline the offer on numerous occasions.

She suffers from irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), with common symptoms being severe cramps, bloating, fatigue, lethargy and diarrhoea.

Joking about its impact on her life, Steph previously said to Entertainment Daily: "I'm not scared about eating things [in the jungle]. My main worry is about how my body would react.

"You see, I'm the type of person who gets a small bite and then my whole leg swells up. I'd be scared that if I ate something that disagreed with me I'd probably end up s******g myself on TV."

Due to this, the TV star also suggested that her mental health would be a worry while hypothetically taking part in a series of I'm a Celeb.

Steph's Packed Lunch airs weekdays from 12pm on Channel 4.
