KISS' Paul Stanley Reacts To Backlash Over Gender Reassignment Tweet
Paul Stanley has backtracked from his controversial statement on gender reassignment for children.
In a recent Twitter, the KISS singer-guitarist called gender reassignment for children a “sad and dangerous fad”.
“There is a BIG difference between teaching acceptance and normalizing and even encouraging participation in a lifestyle that confuses young children into questioning their sexual identification as though some sort of game and then parents in some cases allow it,” he said in a statement posted on Twitter.
The veteran musician’s opinion was met with stiff resistance on social media.
Earlier this week, Dee Snider was dropped from San Francisco Pride after he expressed support for Stanley’s statement.
In a new statement issued last Thursday, Stanley changed his stance from the original statement.
Stanley began the tweet by saying that while his thoughts were clear, his “words clearly were not.”
“Most importantly and above all else, I support those struggling with their sexual identity while enduring constant hostility and those whose path leads them to reassignment surgery. It’s hard to fathom the kind of conviction that one must feel to take those steps,” he said.
