Kylie Jenner infuriates fans for taking 12 minute flight on a private jet

Kylie Jenner has been criticised by fans after she took a 12-minute flight on her private jet for a journey that would have taken 39 minutes by car.

The 24 year old billionaire has been called a "climate criminal" for her short flights across California – with the star heading on two different flights on both July 13 and July 15.

According to travel logs, on July 15 her jet travelled for 35 minutes from Palm Springs, just outside of LA, to Van Nuys, which is close to her $36 million Hidden Hills mansion.

But just two hours later, the mum-of-two flew from Van Nuys to Camarillo in Ventura County, California – a trip which took just 12 minutes.

Meanwhile, on July 13, Kylie flew from Camarillo to Van Nuys in a 17 minute trip, before taking a 29 minute flight from Van Nuys to Palm Springs.

The Daily Mail reported that her trips would have cost $1,600 just to fuel the plane, while hiring a private jet would have cost her $7,200.

But the outrage was caused by the fact that if the star had driven the 26-mile trip from her home in Hidden Hills to Camarillo, the journey would have taken between 30 to 40 minutes.

With Kylie first driving 30 minutes in the opposite direction to Van Nuys airport to board her private jet, the 12 minute flight means the journey took longer than it would to drive.

As well as this, Kylie had already caused a stir by posting an Instagram post of her and partner Travis Scott next to a car and their two private jets, captioning it "You wanna take mine or yours?"

Kylie purchased her jet in 2020 for a rumoured $72.8 million and fashioned it with neon, a full bar, and Hermès blankets over every seat.

Aviation experts have called Kylie "irresponsible" for her flights. Paul Charles, CEO of travel consultancy The PC Agency, told DailyMail.com: "Private jets certainly have their place, especially with so many delays and cancellations for consumers using airports globally at the moment.

"But the focus should be on responsible travel, for example taking private jets and using carbon offset schemes, or taking jets which are powered by sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

"Taking one for 12 minutes when the car journey would have been more appropriate is the height of irresponsibility."

A single private jet can produce as much as two tonnes of CO2 in an hour, while the average person in the UK has a carbon footprint of about ten tonnes of CO2 in an entire year.

People have since hit out at her short-haul flights, with some going as far as calling her a "climate criminal".

One person tweeted: "Kylie seems to love taking her jet for short trips that are probably drivable. Seems to be a theme here."

Another said: "Kylie Jenner: full time climate criminal. These jets should never be allowed to take off."

Other people suggested that short-haul flights should be "illegal", with some describing doing multiple short flights in a day as "gross".

A third person commented: "She took a 12minute flight??? Why is this even allowed she could've seriously went in a car."
