Lil Durk, J. Cole Joins Forces On New Single 'All My Life'
Lil Durk and J. Cole teamed up for a new single, “All My Life,” for Durk’s upcoming eighth LP, Almost Healed, which is due out on May 26.
Lil Durk, who had previously teased “All My Life” on Instagram, released the song along with an accompanying music video directed by Steve Cannon, last Friday (May 12). Dr. Luke produced the song. The song features a children’s choir.
“All my life, they’re never gonna keep me down. All this time, they never thought I’d make it out,” reflects Lil Durk, introspecting about his rise to fame and the determination to change the public’s perception of him.
“I decided that I have to finish/But the media call me a menace/I done sat down with the mayor and politicians, I’m tryin’ to change up the image,” he raps. “You can’t blame my past no more, I come from the trenches/Some say that I’ll never be a superstar but I know I’m different (oh no-no-no).”
“These days seems rappers are dyin’ way before they even gettin’ their shine/I never even heard little buddy/Til somebody murder lil buddy/Now I’m on the phone searchin’ lil buddy name,” raps J. Cole. “Got to play his tunes, all day in my room/Thinkin’ ‘Damn, this shit is wicked/To get their names buzzin’ some n***as got to lay in a tomb.”
Lil Durk’s previous album was 7220, which arrived in March 2022.
