Lisa Marie Presley laid to rest at Graceland as ‘heartbroken’ Priscilla pays tribute at public memorial service

Lisa Marie Presley has been laid to rest at Graceland, the iconic home of her father, Elvis Presley.

The ceremony started with a gospel choir, who sang Amazing Grace, alongside a picture of Lisa Marie, the only daughter of Elvis, who died from cardiac arrest on 12 January, aged 54.

Lisa Marie leaves behind three daughters: Riley who she shared with ex-husband, Danny Keough, and 14 year old twins, Harper and Finley Lockwood.

Jason Clark and The Tennessee Mass Choir opened the proceedings with a powerful rendition of Amazing Grace.

Hundreds of mourners gathered at on the lawn at the estate in Memphis, Tennessee to remember Lisa Marie, as various people paid their respects, including her mother, Priscilla.

She thanked everyone for coming to honour her daughter Lisa Marie at the memorial service.

Priscilla also read a poem on behalf of Lisa’s daughters, which said: “I hope I can love my daughter that way you loved me. The way you love my brother and my sisters. Thank you for giving me strength, my heart, my empathy, my courage, my sense of humour.

“My manners, my temper, my wildness, my tenacity. I’m a product of your heart. My sisters are a product of your heart. My brother is a product of your heart.

“We are you. You are us My eternal love. I hope you finally know how loved you were here. Thank you for trying so hard for us. If I didn’t tell you every day, thank you.”

Speaking for herself, the 77-year-old grieving mother then added: "Our hearts are broken. Lisa we all love you."

While Priscilla arrived at the memorial her son Navarone Garibaldi, Lisa Marie's daughter Riley Keough and Lisa Marie’s ex-husband, Michael Lockwood, it's unclear if Lisa's daughters Harper and Finley were in attendance for the public service.

Riley's husband Ben Peterson-Smith read out a tribute she had penned to her mother, which she said: "I remember how it felt to be loved by the most loving mother I've ever known.

"I'm a product of your heart. My sisters are a product of your heart. My brother is a product of your heart.

"I hope you finally know how loved you are."

The Duchess of York delivered a tribute to her “sissy” Lisa Marie Presley where she offered her support to the late singer’s children. She was followed by singer Alanis Morissette performing an emotional rendition of her song Rest.

Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose also spoke about his friend Lisa Marie Presley before performing the band’s song November Rain.

He was followed by Pastor Dwayne Hunt who delivered a prayer in which he said the singer will be buried alongside her son Benjamin and near to her father Elvis.

He ended the message by saying: “Goodbye, until tomorrow.”

The Blackwood Brothers Quartet then performed the gospel song How Great Thou Art followed by Sweet, Sweet Spirit.

Between the two, one of the singers recalled that his father had sung as part of the quartet for Elvis’s funeral and that him performing today for Lisa Marie felt like a “full circle” moment.

Lisa Marie died just over two years after the tragic death of her son, Benjamin Keough, who died from suicide, aged just 27.

She will be buried beside him on the Graceland estate. The plot is also nearby her father's final resting place.

Following her son Benjamin's tragic suicide, Lisa Marie struggled to cope and became somewhat of a recluse in the years before her death.

Months before she died, Lisa Marie penned an essay, published by People magazine, where she wrote: "I can understand why people may want to avoid you once a terrible tragedy has struck. Especially a parent losing their child because it is truly your worst nightmare.

"I can recall a couple of times in my life where I knew parents who lost their child and while I could be there for them when it happened, I avoided them after and never bothered to follow up with them because they quite literally became a representative of my biggest fear.

"I also low-key judged them, and I swore I'd never do whatever it was that I felt they either did or neglected in their parental actions and choices with their child."

Her mother, Prescilla Presley, confirmed her daughter's death with a heartbreaking statement, which read: "It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us.

"She was the most passionate strong and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss. Thank you for the love and prayers."
