Loose Women’s Nadia Sawalha pulls out of NTAs as she shares video from sickbed

Nadia Sawalha has pulled out of the National Television Awards today, following a string of celebrities who have bowed out of the ceremony due to sickness.

The 57 year old has been tucked up in bed in after falling ill with a mystery virus, thought to be the latest strain of Covid-19 by the daytime presenter.

Nadia was due to attend the NTAs, held at the O2 arena in London tonight, with her Loose Women co-stars as their ITV show has been nominated for the Best Daytime Award.

However, Nadia won’t be showing up as she is too poorly, she confirmed in a new YouTube video.

Seen bedridden in the clip, Nadia held up her NTAs ticket as she regretfully said: "Look what I just got delivered on a bike. It's very fancy. National Television Awards.

"There it all is. Guess who won't be going to the National Television Awards…", as she frowned to the camera.

Nadia revealed she had planned what she was going to wear, before having to pull out of the awards show, adding: "I've got such a lovely dress — I've got three lovely dresses I can choose from.

"My friend Simone was coming over to do my make-up, I'm supposed to be going with my friend Jordan in the car.”

Despite missing the show, the host assured fans that her fellow panellists Jane Moore, Kaye Adams and the rest of the Loose Women ladies would be attending the event, representing the show for her.

Nadia’s bow out from the NTAs comes after Ant and Dec were forced to pull out of attending the event after falling sick also.

The hosting pair, who have won Best Presenter 20 years running, have “postponed all work commitments” including their posts on Britain's Got Talent, a spokesperson for the show confirmed.

A statement released giving this update announced Stephen Mulhern as the replacement host for the duo on the ITV competition show.

Despite testing herself and receiving negative results, Nadia seemed convinced in her latest video that she’d contracted Covid-19, as she said: “It's just floored me. I am convinced that the tests that we have now don't pick up the new strains of Covid.

"That's what I think because it's very similar in the way Covid was — you start to feel better and then you just get hammered again and just have to go to bed.

"Yesterday I literally laid in bed staring at the ceiling for three hours. I never do that!"
