Lorraine Kelly slams Matt Hancocks Im A Celeb trial exemption

Lorraine Kelly has slammed Matt Hancock, after it was revealed that the former Health Secretary may be exempt from some of the Bushtucker Trials during his upcoming stint on I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!.

Many members of the public have expressed their intention to vote for the MP to do every trial on the show, however, a secret health condition means he might not be able to.

The reason is that he reportedly contracted trench foot while filming Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, which is set to air next year, meaning he can't do any trials with water.

As Lorraine spoke to reporter Rishi Davda during her self-titled ITV morning show, she called the suggestion that he might not be able to do some of the trials "daft".

She continued: "We all want to vote for him to do them all, don't we?" before grimacing.

Rishi was slightly more subtle in his response, as he nodded and said: "Well, it seems like the public do, as the bookies have got Matt Hancock down to break the record for the most challenges completed [the former record was held by producer Naughty Boy)."

With a sarcastic tone, Lorraine said: "Well, there's no point him being there, really, let's be honest, if he's not going to do them. How bizarre? I didn't know he did that SAS thing, so this isn't the first reality show that he has done? How extraordinary."

Trench foot is caused by prolonged exposure to a cold temperature that is usually above freezing and damp, sometimes unsanitary conditions.

It should clear up in one to three days, however if untreated, it can take up to six months to get rid of symptoms.

A source told The Sun: "When he was filming SAS Who Dares Wins in October, Matt got trench foot – in fact, a lot of the cast did. It can take up to six months to recover from that, so any water-based tasks or swimming trials would be bad news for his feet."

Matt's sensational signing to I'm a Celebrity is said to have angered bosses at Celebrity SAS, who considered his signing to be a coup for them.

A source said: "Matt was the star signing for SAS Who Dares Wins but now he's on I'm A Celebrity it has poured cold water all over it. He will be on air on ITV's biggest show for a month.

"'Obviously no one working on SAS is impressed as it really takes away from their show and it looks like they signed him after I'm A Celebrity – which isn't true."
