Love Island bombshell Claudias famous dad Carl Fogarty trolled over her TV debut
Carl Fogarty was trolled online ahead of his daughter’s Love Island debut in Tuesday night’s episode, with some questioning why he’s so excited about his daughter going on the ITV dating show.
Motorcycling legend Carl was one of the millions of viewers who watched his daughter, Claudia, enter the south African villa on Tuesday in the first Love Island series with Maya Jama as the host.
Ahead of her reality TV debut, Carl, 57, took to Instagram to post a gushing tribute to his daughter alongside a picture that showed the father-daughter duo enjoying a glass of bubbly.
In the caption, he wrote: “Good luck to my daughter @claudiafogarty who makes her long awaited appearance on tonight’s @loveisland.”
Alongside the statement, Carl posted three emojis, a nervous face, a ‘see no evil’ monkey, and fingers crossed emoji.
Carl had his own stint in reality TV back in 2014 when he won I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here against the likes of Jake Quickenden, Gemma Collins, Melanie Sykes and Nadia Forde.
But not everyone took kindly to Carl’s fatherly statement; in fact, many took issue with the fact he was letting Claudia go on the show at all.
One person hit back: “Oooffft Why are you happy about that.”
“Why are these kids so desperate for fame through a trashy programme,” another said, while a third added, “Oh dear. No need to try and gain fame on that god awfully show.”
Another scathed: “God Claudia why oh why thought you had a bloke. Shameful programme get a grip.”
Despite the backlash, other fans wished Claudia the best: “Good luck Claudia.”
“Good luck to your girl & well done for being a great role model of a dad & showing her support,” another person wrote.
Her inclusion in the show was revealed last week when a source told The Sun: “Claudia is ready to strut into the villa imminently. She’s classy, beautiful and well-educated and is set to have all the boys fighting over her."
“Her life might be glamorous but family means everything to her and she’d love to meet the man of her dreams and settle down. But she’s promised not to be too raunchy, to save Dad’s blushes,” they added.
Despite only joining the show last night, Claudia, who lives in a chic flat with her sister, seemingly set her sights on previously “exposed” football player Tom Clare.
Some fans even questioned whether Tom and Claudia knew each other before the show, with many pointing to Tom’s "genuine look of terror” as reasoning.
"Is the new girl Tom’s ex ?! Because that was a genuine look of terror on his face," one person wrote as another said, "Tom’s “oh f**k” is giving this bombshell is one of his exes and I’m here for the drama #loveisland."
