Love Island fans rejoice as Ella admits she already knows her partner

‘Drama already, let’s go!’ Love Island fans rejoice as the series gets off to a fiery start as Ella admits she already knows one of the boys (but awkwardly he DOESN’T remember her!)

The new series of Love Island got off to a dramatic start on Monday night as Ella Thomas admitted she already knew one of the boys in the villa.

Coincendentally, Ella, 23, was coupled up with Tyrique Hyde, 24, who she said she had already met – but in an awkward twist he didn’t recognise her.

Viewers insisted that it was a good sign that an action-packed season lay ahead, as producers were already providing dramatic scenes in the first episode.

Taking to Twitter to share their excitement after the exchange, one viewer wrote: “We’ve met before” yess drama alreadt lets goo.’

A second person commented: ‘Matching tattoos and two have already met?? Love Island have done their research this year.’

Another quizzed the possible motive behind it, and said: ‘Sorry watching Love Island and not poeple on here saying they’ve already met!?

‘Sorry what is ITV’s strategy on this??’

One other said: “Do you remember we met before” drama before the second ad break already #LoveIsland.’

The summer series of Love Island kicked off with a new crop of Islanders on the hunt for romance.

ITV viewers saw the first ten singletons enter the villa they will be paired up according to the result of a public vote.

But in an awkward moment it was revealed that the two Islanders already knew one another.

Model Ella recognised semi-professional footballer Tyrique, who awkwardly struggled to recall their prior connection.

Eventually, Essex hunk Tyrique realised that they previously met at a nightclub in London’s Mayfair.

Oh no! Coincendentally, Ella, 23, was coupled up with Tyrique Hyde, 24, who she said she had already met – but in an awkward twist he didn’t recognise her

He recalled that Ella was wearing a blonde wig at the time, which is the reason why he had difficulty remembering her.

For the first time in the show’s history, female and male Islanders entered the villa at the same time during the 10th series opener, and began getting to know each other right away.

In previous years, the girls were always first to strut into the villa, where they excitedly meet and open a bottle of bubbly before being joined by the boys, who typically enter one by one.

But in this year’s first twist, which marks the beginning of unexpected happenings on the show as bosses promise to keep the Islanders and audiences on their toes this summer, contestants had the chance to begin grafting from the moment they step foot in the villa.

A TV source told MailOnline: ‘The girls have always entered the villa before the boys but for the first time, two females will enter followed by the first male Islander and already, sparks begin to fly.

‘The viewers have already chosen who is coupling up with who, so the Islanders getting to know each other before being put in their pairs only means that the drama will ensue quicker than usual.’

The Love Island villa this year boasts a new sexy Hideaway, plunge pool for romantic ‘floating breakfasts’ and a playful swing, and the largest ever dressing area.

Islanders excitedly waiting in the wings to enter the £1million villa where they will be filmed for the next eight weeks have access to an array of designer beauty products, a fully stocked wardrobe, and their choice of double bed, which will be shared on the first night with their new partner.

ITV2 viewers can expect to see the return of the famous fire pit, where dramatic re-couplings take place and contestants are also dumped from the island, as well as two new double daybeds as bosses hope contestants will be intimate underneath the Spanish sunshine.

The Hideaway, which is the only private room in the villa, has been given a fresh makeover, with hot pink and purple walls, gold accessories, and its own outdoor terrace with sexy swing and plunge pool, perfect for red hot dates.

TV producers have also ensured the room where Islanders get down and dirty is abundant with sex toys, Ann Summers lingerie, and chocolate body paint, guaranteeing saucy action beneath the sheets.

Love Island executive producer Mike Spencer told MailOnline: ‘The Hideaway is through a secret garden.

‘There’s a sexy swing in The Hideaway and a plunge pool. We have moved away from a jacuzzi and have a little plunge pool instead.

Love Island airs tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
