Love Island’s Olivia has displayed ‘toxic behaviour and lacks self-awareness’, says relationship expert

Olivia Hawkins has a “lack of self awareness” and does the very things she criticises other Love Island contestants for, a relationship expert has claimed.

Former Michelle Keegan and Emma Watson body double Olivia Hawkins has certainly made a splash since joining the ITV dating show as one of the original contestants.

Since the start of the series, Olivia has been involved in numerous arguments and was previously coupled up with Tom Clare, Kai Fagan, and now Casa Amor bombshell Maxwell Samuda.

Earlier in the week, both Olivia, 28, and Maxwell were involved in conversations about how “fake” Jessie Wynter is in her relationship with TikTok farming sensation Will Young.

Following the drama, fans called out Olivia for her hypocrisy online as a teaser for the upcoming instalment saw Jessie challenge the islanders for dubbing her fake.

Heart Bingo’s relationship expert and co-founder of dating app So Syncd, Louella Alderson, has now addressed the question: “Are Olivia and Maxwell a toxic couple?”

She explained: "As a couple, they haven't shown toxic tendencies yet. However, individually Olivia has displayed a lot of toxic behaviours. Olivia has a serious lack of self-awareness. Everything she criticises other islanders for, she has done herself.

"Someone like Olivia, who lacks self-awareness, is oblivious to how they come across and how their behaviour may impact those around them. She is hypocritical and plays the victim when asked to take responsibility for her words and actions."

Louella continued to explain that Maxwell, 23, is more “emotionally aware” and has not been “overly involved in her b******g and gossiping, often defending the other islanders, or pointing out when Olivia is too hard on them."

"Maxwell telling Casey that Jessie was fake was out of character for him. He has typically been supportive and positive of other islanders,” she added. “Whereas Olivia has constantly been bitter and toxic throughout the season. It could be that Olivia's toxic tendencies are now rubbing off on Maxwell, so it will be interesting to see how this progresses."

When asked whether Olivia and Maxwell are threatened by the other couples, hence their behaviour, the expert explained: "It's clear that Olivia feels threatened by a lot of people. She has made it no secret that she disapproves of certain people, such as Jessie and Will. It's hard to say if this is a conscious effort by Olivia and Maxwell to turn the other islanders against them or if it's just an outgrowth of her own insecurities."

"From what we have seen of Olivia, it wouldn't be surprising if she was trying to turn the other islanders against Will and Jessie. She has been known to be manipulative and often plays the victim,” she added.

Louella’s points seemingly match statements made by fans after Wednesday night’s episode, with one person explaining: "Why are Olivia and Maxwell piping up about Jessie being fake when all they do is chat sh*t about every couple in the villa when they’re together #LoveIsland."

"Whys everyone saying jessie is fake. They all are ron olivia maxwell casey. So fake #loveisland,” another wrote.

Others have defended Olivia, with one fan writing: "Say what you will about Olivia at least she defends her man!"
