Margot Robbie so ‘nervous’ she did tequila shots ahead of Leonardo DiCaprio nude scene

Last week, critically-acclaimed and globally-adored actress Margot Robbie left audiences gobsmacked after revealing she believed "no one's going to notice me" after being cast as the female lead in Martin Scorsese's 2013 blockbuster The Wolf of Wall Street.

Sitting down to chat at BAFTA’s Central London headquarters last week, the Aussie star, 32, admitted: "I know this sounds silly now, knowing how big the movie became, but at the time I was like – it doesn’t matter what I do in this film because they’re gonna focus on Leo [DiCaprio] and I’ll just slip under the radar."

And whilst reflecting on her time on the popular comedy movie, the blonde bombshell also jokes that she had to find a way to calm her nerves before filming the movie's nude scene in front of co-star Leonardo.

Being just 22 at the time, she laughs as she recalled: "I had a couple of shots of tequila before shooting because I was very nervous!"

After recording an audition tape in-between takes of Richard Curtis' 2013 rom-com About Time – in she played the small role of Domhnall Gleeson's former love interest 'Charlotte' – Margot bagged the role of Brooklynn bombshell Naomi Lapaglia, wife of the infamous fraudster Jordan Belford [played by Leonardo].

But working with the Taxi Driver and Goodfellas legend "Marty" – as Margot casually nicknames him in our interview – was an exceptional learning experience, both behind and in front of the camera.

The Wolf Of Wall Street became a critical and commercial success, making it Scorsese's highest-grossing film to date and making Margot one of the most in-demand movie stars of all time.

The years that followed saw the actress land major roles in several successful blockbusters, as well as start her own entertainment firm LuckyChap – which she established alongside husband Tom Ackerley in 2014.

Next year the versatile actress, who has since starred in the likes of I,Tonya, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Mary Queen of Scots and Bombshell, will star in the highly anticipated Barbie movie opposite Ryan Gosling’s Ken.

And it’s clear the star still can’t quite believe her own luck.

"So many times I feel like it’s a ridiculous way to make a living," she laughed as she reflects on her acting career so far. "We’re getting paid to do this. It’s ridiculous and wonderful."

Margot was speaking at BAFTA: A Life in Pictures with Margot Robbie supported by TCL.
