Megan McKenna insists freebie fillers as a TOWIE star gave her body dysmorphia
Former TOWIE star Megan McKenna has revealed she got carried away with being offered free lip fillers while she was filming the hit reality TV show.
The country singer said that while she’s now really happy with the way she looks after having her lip fillers removed in 2020, she believes she had a ‘bit of body dysmorphia’ while being on TOWIE. The 30-year-old – who left the ITVBe show in 2017 after 18 months – revealed: “I’m really comfortable with the way I look. Before, I was in a different environment.
"In the world of reality TV you get all these things for free and you think, “Oh, I’ll get that,” and you get wrapped up in it and a bit of body dysmorphia."
She added: “I also want to be taken seriously with my music and I don’t want to look like a blow-up doll – it’s not nice.”
Megan – who recently toured with Welsh singing legend Tom Jones – also admitted she doesn’t have botox.
When asked if she has the non-invasive procedure, she said: “No – and I’ve got wrinkles on my forehead to prove it!”
The Essex-based star said she’s happy with the way she looks right now and “loves” her “small boobs”.
She revealed: “So many people are having things removed – even the Kardashians – and people are becoming more natural and having their bums and boobs taken out.
“You’ve just got to love your body the way it is, and I love my small boobs.”
Previously, Megan – who made her debut red carpet appearance with her footballer boyfriend Oliver Burke last week at the opening night of the new cast in musical Wicked at London's Apollo Victoria Theatre – has opened up about losing herself and feeling like she looked ‘awful’ when she was younger.
She said: “What I would like to say to my younger self is you really need to accept the way you look.
“I know there's Instagram and looking online and wanting to look like other people and I was doing that massively. You lose yourself a bit and you forget…I feel like I looked awful.”
The star also recalled times her mum would tell her her lips looked too big, and said that the attention she received for them made her feel worse.
She revealed: “All the stories written about me was about my big lips. It’s really sad as I’ve been working so hard with my music.”
