Michelle Heaton shares devastating photos from alcohol addiction battle to mark New Year’s

Michelle Heaton has shared some devastating photographs from her alcohol addiction battle to mark the new year.

The Liberty X singer, 43, posted pictures from a time she was hospitalised two years ago during her addiction battle, and revealed that she'd collapsed at the time in a new Instagram post.

The mum-of-two encouraged her followers to reach out if they're struggling, explaining how she'd turned down help several times herself before getting sober around 20 months ago.

"2 years ago this was me .. I was admitted to hospital, not for the first or the last time. I had collapsed in active addiction," Michelle began her post.

She continued: "I left the hospital the next day, I walked over to the off-licence and bought more vodka.

"Seems insane? It is! But it was the only way I knew how to live. So I thought. I swore to my peers, family and doctors I was on the mend. I meant it. But my mind of an addict had a different plan."

Michelle shared the post to mark the beginning of 2023 and urged her followers to reach out to "someone like me" as we all "make goals and resolutions" at the start of a new year.

"New year is a time we all make goals, and resolutions," she added. "Why don’t you make your goal to reach out to someone like me?"

Sharing more about her own journey to sobriety, Michelle added: "I turned it down so many times, so don’t be discouraged if they say no. The day will come when they’ve just had enough."

The 43 year old then added a link to Alcoholics Anonymous to sign off her message, before saying: "One day at a time your life can be filled with hope faith & courage".

Michelle has now been sober for around 20 months after kicking her addiction, and has since signed up for Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins and Dancing on Ice.

It was revealed towards the end of 2022 that the mum-of-two will take part in the 2023 series of Dancing on Ice, alongside the likes of Love Island's Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, former TOWIE star Joey Essex, and EastEnders actress Patsy Palmer.

Michelle has been training hard and keeping her followers updated with her progress, most recently showing off her incredible muscular physique.
