Mike Tindall, 44, has declined to comment on what the Royal Family had said about his planned appearance on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! this year, but hinted he did get their permission while arriving in Australia for the ITV show. However, various sources have since reported that King Charles III is unhappy with the rugby player’s decision.

The Daily Mail Investigates team released a report examining Mike’s recent public appearances following the death of the Queen.

The paper discussed Mike’s adverts, building up to his appearance on the reality TV show.

They include ads for Amazon Prime and Domino’s Pizza.

A royal source claimed: “The King was not consulted about I’m A Celebrity, and certainly wouldn’t have approved,’ is how one royal source puts it.

“As for these adverts, it’s pretty undignified. The Queen was Zara’s grandmother and the King is her uncle, and the timing is ugly, because it looks like being part of the funeral has raised their profile and helped drum up business.

“This stuff is absolutely not what the Palace wants, but these people seem determined to push and push in search of more money.”

When questioned by Mirror.co.uk after he landed at the airport to get prepared for the gruelling show, he said he didn’t want to divulge any information about King Charles III’s reaction to him joining the I’m A Celeb 2022 line-up.

“That’s not something I need to tell you,” he said.

Express.co.uk have reached out to Buckingham Palace for comment.

Despite his initial rebuttal, Mike, who is married to King Charles III’s niece Zara Tindall, was in good spirits ahead of his role in the show.

According to the publication, he accepted that the media were going to shine the spotlight on him.

He also revealed the strain this will have on his life and remarked: “The family I will miss the most of course. This will probably be the longest time I have been away.

“Not having communication, that will be the hardest bit.”

Upon arriving in Australia, he spoke about the importance of the country to him.

He explained: “Australia is a special place, I met Zara in Sydney.

“There is no holiday planned at the moment afterwards. If there was, I wouldn’t tell you either!”

Mike won the World Cup with England in 2003 and has also appeared on reality shows with Bear Grylls, so he is no stranger to putting his body on the line.

However, the star appeared more concerned about his arrival into the jungle, where he will face lack of food and tough Bushtucker Trials.

The sportsman explained that his biggest worry was “hanger”.

However, he said he was used to dealing with a lack of sleep and frustration due to his three children.

“We will find out if I’m good with snakes, won’t we?

“I hope I will be good at the trials but you don’t know what you are going to get.”

Mike is married to the late Queen’s granddaughter Zara and the couple share three children together.

Reflecting on the Queen’s death, he recently gave an insight into Royal Family life to The Good, The Bad and The Rugby.

He described the event of the Queen’s death as “sad, emotional but happy”, as the family were celebrating the late monarch’s life.

Mike also said you can “never be ready for” a loss of such magnitude.
