Naga Munchetty, 47, and Charlie Stayt, 60, have been regular co-stars on BBC Breakfast for a number of years and took part in a celebrity edition of The Weakest Link on Boxing Day. After a tough round, Charlie voted for Naga to be eliminated from the quiz show, causing a tense rift in the studio.
Speaking after the awkward vote-off, Naga confessed she felt “betrayed” and threatened “revenge”.
The broadcaster was not alone in thinking Charlie had “betrayed” his colleague as their co-star Nina Warhurst took to Twitter and cheekily hit out at him.
She took to the micro-blogging site and reacted to the celebrity edition of the quiz show.
It comes after Charlie was first quizzed about his former colleague Steph McGovern but he had seemingly forgotten her surname as he asked host Romesh Ranganathan to repeat the question.
Nina tweeted: “@StephLunch the cheek of Chaz!! #CanYouRepeattheQuestion.”
Later in the show, Charlie then opted to vote for Naga to be eliminated from the competition.
In view of her 34,500 followers, Nina shared a screenshot of Naga who admitted she felt “betrayed”.
She penned: “He’s also just chucked @TVNaga01 under the bus! I’ll be ready for you Thursday & Friday @BBCBreakfast Mr Stayt [devil emoji].”
Naga took the opportunity to thank her colleague for her support.
She tweeted: “Thank you my friend x.”
Viewers flocked to comment on the post as fans were divided over Charlie voting Naga out of the competition.
Peter wrote: “I can’t believe Naga was voted off by Charlie.”

Norman commented: “Never forgive, never forget,” while Phil tweeted: “If he hadn’t thrown @TVNaga01 under the bus, she would have won it.”
Robert added: “Funniest thing on TV today.”
In one round of the revived classic hosted by Romesh, Naga’s name was selected by her fellow players when it came to elimination time.
To add insult to injury, Charlie even opted to vote for Naga as the weakest contestant.
As an awkward silence fell upon the studio, Naga remarked: “Oh yes.”
Justifying his decision, Charlie claimed he picked his BBC co-star because she had been the only other player to have incorrectly answered a question.
Leaving the studio, Naga ominously remarked: “Revenge is a dish best served cold.”
“No one likes being voted off,” she commented. “If it’s fair, that’s fine.”
Acknowledging Charlie’s decision, she continued rather tongue-in-cheek: “If it’s betrayal from people who you think are supposed to have your back, it’s a different matter.”
