Nick Cannon pays tribute to infant son on difficult day after tragic death
The Masked singer host, Nick Cannon, has paid a heartfelt tribute to his late son Zen two years after the tot tragically passed away after losing his battle to brain cancer.
The former husband of superstar Mariah Carey, 42, shared an emotional post on his social media over the weekend.
In one picture, the dad of 12 is seen standing on a beach surrounded by close friends and family next to brightly lit letters that spelled out the name of his beloved son, who was his first with Alyssa Scott, 29.
In another picture, the Hollywood star, is then seen releasing a batch of balloons in the night sky, which were beautifully decorated by string lights.
Nick captioned the post saying: "A difficult day that turned into a beautiful night…. We will forever celebrate Zen's Light! I love you son."
And this prompted a host of comments by fans who were touched by Nick's candid post.
One fan said: "As a mother of an Angel baby thank you for still showing up and honoring your baby STILL. He mattered. He still matters and I just know that him and my baby son are the best of friends. Praying over you guys."
And another fan commented: "You are in my thoughts. I lost my daughter in January to the same thing. The world just isn't fair."
In December 2021, Nick announced the devastating news that his son had passed away at five months old due to brain cancer and soon after, in commemoration, he added to his tattoos in memory of his tragic loss.
A year after losing Zen, Nick and Alyssa gave birth to the comedian's twelfth child, a daughter named Halo.
Despite Alyssa not being in attendance at the commemoration, she decided to take to social media to express her pain.
Posting a throwback photo, Alyssa shared with fans the tender moment she watched her son sleep in the hospital after giving birth.
She captioned the post saying: "Happy heavenly birthday Zen. When I get present enough, when I do what feels honest and true.. Somehow the moment leads me right to you."
She continued: 'Me and the girls were able to see you in so many ways today. We love you for eternity'.
