Peter Andre says ‘it’s not easy to see your mum declining’ as health worsens
Peter Andre has opened up about his mum Thea’s ill health and admitted it’s “never easy” to see your own mother declining.
The 49 year old recently visited Australia with his whole family to see his mum, dad Savvas and his sister Debbie.
While he was there the singer shared a number of heartwarming snaps and videos of his mum, who has Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, with his four children and his NHS doctor wife Emily.
Pete confirmed his mum’s health battles as he admitted she is “really struggling” to one Instagram follower as he responded to a string of supportive comments on the pictures.
He added: “We worry every single day as it takes hold. I will cherish every moment I have.”
In a second reply, the singer said: “It’s so cruel seeing it take hold.”
And he told a third fan: “Some days she is good, like today, but others are not so good.”
And writing exclusively in his column, Pete shared that it’s been “tough” and “very emotional” to see his mother’s health worsen.
He wrote: “It was my mum’s 87th birthday last week too, and it was nice we were with her so close to it.
"It’s never easy to see people declining when they get older, especially when it’s your own mum. It’s tough and very emotional.
“Although it was difficult to leave them at the end of our trip, seeing Mum smile and happy was the best – that’s what it’s all about.”
The Mysterious Girl hitmaker also shared a sweet video of Junior with his mum while in Oz. The 17 year old can be seen walking towards his grandmother as he greets her with a big hug.
She's heard saying: "Hello Junior," before the pair speak to each other in Greek.
"We love you mum," Peter wrote alongside the clip with a love heart emoji. "Her reaction to junior is beautiful. Always asking about Bista. They always speak Greek together."
The singer had previously told his fans: "These last two weeks have meant the world to us. Mum, you have no idea how much we love you and Dad.
"Debs , savs and Joe thanks for everything. @dr_emily_official @officialjunior_andre @officialprincess_andre @the.beauty.couture @joe.ebartolo @sav_and_y @mstheaandrea," followed by six black heart emojis.
Pete also exclusively told us he has been teaching all his children Greek so they can talk to their grandparents, who are Greek Cypriot but live on the Gold Coast in Australia.
“I’ve tried to teach my kids Greek so they can speak it when they visit their Yiayia and Bapou (Greek for Gran and Grandpa),” he said.
