Phillip Schofield shares message about ‘being kind’ amid This Morning affair scandal

Former This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield has changed his Instagram bio to share a message about “kindness” following his affair scandal on Friday.

Phillip, 61, who earlier today released a statement in response to claims of a toxic atmosphere on This Morning, has written the quote “Nothing beats kindness, it sits quietly beyond all things” in his Instagram bio.

The quote is from the book The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse by author Charlie Mackesy.

IMDB explains that the story: “Follows a boy, a mole, a fox and a horse, as they create an unexpected friendship and travel together in the boy's search for home.”

The star's message about “being kind” follows after he admitted to an "on-off consensual relationship" with a younger male colleague which he said was "not wise but not illegal".

In a statement made to MailOnline, Phillip said that he met the man in question "when he was a teenager", and wanted help to get onto television.

Phillip then said: "It was only after he started to work on the show that it became more than just a friendship. That relationship was unwise, but not illegal. It is now over."

On Friday Phillip resigned from ITV completely just over a week after he left This Morning, meaning he will no longer host any ITV shows.

Following Phillip's full resignation, a number of past members of the This Morning family made claims about a toxic culture on the show.

One of those to speak out is Dr Ranj when he released a damming statement slamming the "toxic" culture.

He also said that he raised concerns about “bullying and discrimination” two years ago when he worked on the show and afterwards felt like he was “managed out” for whistleblowing.

Phillip responded to "toxic" This Morning claims with a statement posted to his Instagram stories today (May 29).

After working on This Morning for over 20 years, the 61 year old wrote: "Now I no longer work on @thismorning I am free to say this.

"I hope you have noticed that it’s the same handful of people with a grudge against me or the show who seem to have the loudest voice.

“This morning IS the best show to work on, with the best people. In all the years I worked there there was no toxicity.

"You can listen to those persistently loud voices if you like. But the thousands of guests over the years, thousands of staff and crew, hundreds of presenters and contributors all know, it IS a family of wonderful, talented, kind and hardworking people.”

Presenters Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond also jumped to the show's defence as they opened the show today and said they “love making the show”.

The duo spoke to viewers as Dermot said: "We all know we happen to be in the news at the moment and of course we appreciate that but just from both of us, the whole team here, the crew, the guys downstairs, we love making this show for all of you.”

Alison quickly added: "Yeah we really do and that's exactly what we are going to do, we are going to continue to do that."
