Phillip Schofield shares snap of bandaged eye as he gives update after surgery
Phillip Schofield has undergone surgery to treat his "debilitating" eye condition, which the presenter has previously admitted drives him "crazy".
The This Morning host, 60, who recently attended his first Pride after coming out as gay two years ago, took to Instagram to share several snaps of himself post operation after the "frustrating floaters" had been removed from his left eye.
In the first photo, Phil can be seen with a large white bandage over his eye but despite the clear discomfort he was probably in, he was still able to smile at the camera.
He captioned the post: "Finally got the INCREDIBLY frustrating 'floaters' sucked out of my left eyeball," followed by an eyes emoji
In a second photo, Phil joked that the doctors may have forgotten to remove the electrode stickers following the procedure after posing topless in front of the mirror.
He wrote: "Er…. Was I supposed to come home with these still on?!!!"
And despite his dressing still being in place, Phil wasn't about to waste the glorious sunshine the nation is currently enjoying.
Sunbathing in his garden, the TV presenter made fun of his new look by making himself look like a pirate.
Phillip, who recently stepped out with his estranged wife to enjoy Wimbledon, also wrote: "Factor 50 on half my face or the patch mark will last for days."
If the Factor 50 fails him we're sure many This Morning viewers will be intrigued to see what he looks like on his first day back.
Discussing his condition on This Morning back in 2020, he explained: "My retinas are not detaching, but I have debilitating eye floaters."
The MailOnline reported that Phil underwent a vitrectomy, the surgery he previously described as "the only way" to help with his condition.
He said: "I am at the cutting edge of all this, let me tell you, because the only way to treat them is a vitrectomy, where they suck the jelly out of your eye."
Phil also added that he was hoping to be the first person in the UK to undergo a "half vitrectomy" procedure, revealing: "They are trying to pioneer a half vitrectomy which started in America – see I know a lot about this!
"You have half the vitrectomy, take the floaters out, but you don’t get a cataract. And I am hoping I might be the first person in the country to get this!
"They drive me insane! My vision is like a filthy bathroom window drifting across my eyes, and it drives me crazy."
He even admitted that the procedure worried his mum, who feared he was "going blind". But This Morning's Dr Sara was able to reassure him by saying his eyesight was "not an emergency" or "anything to worry about".
