Police Team Up With Feds for BTB Savage Murder Investigation

The Houston rapper was gunned down on Thursday, March 30, just hours after bragging on Instagram about killing a man, who was trying to rob him in his own house.

AceShowbiz -The death of rapper BTB Savage has launched an investigation involving federal agents. Addressing the murder of the rising star, Houston PD Chief Troy Finner said during a press conference that federal partners have now stepped in to help solve the case.

BTB Savage, who is identified as Darrell Gentry by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, was gunned down in River Oaks on Thursday night, March 30. He “was driving a white Mercedes, when the suspects drove up in a black Subaru vehicle. Multiple shots were fired, and then two suspects got out of the vehicle and fled [on San Felipe] in an unknown direction.”

“At approximately 6:10 PM, we received a call for service at a shooting in progress,” Finner told the media during the press conference on Friday. “A drive-by shooting in the 2100 block of Mid Lane. As officers arrived, they quickly located an African-American male, which appears to be in his mid-20s, deceased on the scene. He was driving a white Mercedes vehicle.”

According to an eyewitness, a black newer model Mitsubishi SUV-type vehicle with dark windows came up on the victim and began to fire. “Two suspects got out, the only thing we have on them is they were wearing all black with hoodies,” the chief said.

Finner added that they believed it was “a targeted incident.” He noted that a large team is currently working on hunting down BTB Savage’s killers, but no arrests have been made so far.

BTB Savage was shot and killed just hours after bragging about killing a man, who was trying to rob him and his girlfriend at his own house. Earlier on Thursday, he posted a picture of him standing in a pool of blood of the man that he killed.

In an interview with VladTV, BTB Savage claimed he showed no mercy and told the suspect, who was pleading for help, “I don’t give a (expletive) about you. You’re going to die.” When asked if he was concerned about retaliation, the 26-year-old said, “They might do what they do, but I’m going to get active. That’s all that it is.”

After his passing, his mother Bernita Ward said that she didn’t approve of her son’s online persona. After he posted the photo and did interviews, she warned him to stop doing such things. “I said take that off social media,” Bernita told Houston’s ABC13. “Let this family mourn in peace. They were taunting my son, though, telling him they were going to kill the family, make his momma cry, and kill his son. I told my son don’t respond. Let it go. But, their family member came to rob my son.”

“I want to encourage all the youth, stop the violence,” Bernita added. “Stop the violence. Do something different with your life. I am fully aware of who my son is. The violence that takes place in these streets with these youth is so unnecessary. Kill your debt, kill the negativity. Don’t kill each other.”

BTB Savage left behind a 4-year-old son.
