Prince Harry’s ‘full-on’ relationship with Chelsy Davy and where she is now
Before marrying Meghan Markle, Prince Harry enjoyed a number of high profile romances and was linked to several famous faces over the years.
Harry, 38, dated Zimbabwean businesswoman Chesly Davy, 37, from 2004 until 2011, with the pair's long-term romance being heavily documented in the media.
Chelsy, who is now married to Sam Cutmore-Scott, reportedly parted ways with Harry after deciding she didn't want to pursue life as a member of the Royal Family.
The mum-of-one, who shares baby son Leo with husband Sam, previously shared how "tough" dating a Royal was and admitted she found it "very difficult" at certain times.
In 2016, Chelsy said of her relationship with Harry: “Yes it was tough. It was so full-on: crazy scary and uncomfortable.
“I found it very difficult when it was bad. I couldn’t cope. I was young, I was trying to be a normal kid and it was horrible.”
At the time, Chelsy was pursuing a career in leverage law, which saw her work long hours. When she did get chance to socialise or head out with her boyfriend, her every move was captured by the media.
Photos of Chelsy leaving nightclubs and partying with pals were splashed across the front pages, adding to the stress of dating a Royal.
Chelsy previously said: "I like to enjoy life, but I like to achieve things and am very ambitious. They can be forgiven for not knowing I was working really hard, I didn't shout about it.
“If you go out once, they take a picture, but they don’t take a picture of you going to work every morning, it’s of you falling out of a nightclub at 4am.”
Harry opened up about the impact this had on his ex Chelsy in an interview for his 21st birthday, revealing she would get "upset".
“I can see how upset she get," he said in the interview. “My girlfriend is somebody who’s very special to me, and yes, she’s gone through some very hard times.”
Chelsy is still pals with ex boyfriend Harry and she even attended his 2018 wedding to Meghan.
In her biography, Harry: Life, Loss and Love, Katie Nicholl wrote that the wedding “made Chelsy’s mind up once and for all”.
She added: “The life of a royal bride was not for her and she told Harry she could never make the sacrifices Kate had made.”
