Prince Harry’s most lavish gifts to birthday girl Meghan Markle including Italian Job car

Giving a birthday present to a loved one is not only a thoughtful gesture, it is also an unspoken litmus test of how well you know the person you are buying a present for.

Prince Harry married Meghan Markle in 2018, meaning he has had six years – including the two the couple were engaged – to understand what the Duchess of Sussex really wants for a birthday present.

In the past, Prince Harry gifted his wife unique and luxurious items.

And as she turns 41 today, it's likely that Harry will be pulling out all the stops to delight his love once more.

Here is a list of birthday gifts that Meghan Markle has received from Prince Harry over the years.

Cartier Love Bracelet

In the early days of their courtship, Harry gifted Meghan numerous gifts including artwork and jewellery. One wearable was a bracelet by Cartier which she wore at several royal engagements.

The Cartier Love Bracelet from Selfridges retails from £3,850 and can go up to £38,400 for a 18 carat yellow gold and 2 carat brilliant-cut diamond bracelet. The Cartier Love Bracelet is also a favourite amongst celebrities, with famous fans including Pippa Middleton, Lindsey Lohan and Kylie Jenner who all reportedly love wearing the versatile and chic bracelet.

Van Donna painting

It is reported Harry splashed out on artwork by Van Donna titled Everybody Needs Somebody to Love. He gifted the painting depicting a couple holding hands, to then-girlfriend Meghan in the early days of their courtship. It is thought this gift cemented their relationship as the couple moved onto becoming more serious.

H and M necklace

As the couple's relationship got stronger and more serious, so did the expression of gifts and the show to the world that they were a bonafide couple. Harry gifted Meghan a Maya Brenner necklace featuring the letters M and H – he was telling the world that he and Meghan are an item.

This gift allegedly caused a right royal row, when an aide from Prince Harry's office rang Meghan to tell her to avoid wearing such jewellery, as reported by Independent.

Engagement, eternity and wedding rings

Meghan's engagement ring remains one of the most talked-about gifts from Prince Harry. He presented the ring to her in 2017, whilst they were cooking dinner at their Kensington Palace cottage.

The ring features three giant diamonds sitting on a plain gold band; two from Princess Diana's collection and one from Botswana where the prince undertook charity work.

The couple got married in May 2018. As they drove to the evening celebrations, Meghan flashed her latest gift from Harry on her wedding day – Diana's aquamarine ring. The emerald-cut aquamarine ring was one of the late princess' rings which looked stunning on Meghan's right hand.

To celebrate their first wedding anniversary, Harry give Meghan an eternity band covered in diamonds, which she now wears next to her engagement and wedding rings.

Italian Job inspired car

For her 36th birthday, Harry reportedly bought Meghan a new car, as reported by Daily Star. It is thought he paid £31,000 for a Mini Cooper inspired by the 2003 film The Italian Job.

A source said: "Harry is convinced this is a great gift for Meg. She’ll be able to nip around London yet stay fairly anonymous."

Archie's photos in frame

For her 38th birthday, Harry gifted Meghan a framed photo of Archie. The Sun reported that gift would be from Archie. The source said: "This year there will be a birthday gift from Archie and the odds are on a sepia or black and white photograph of her precious son in a solid silver frame from Aspreys.

"The precious present is likely to have an engraving chosen by Harry that will make it extra special. And Harry has a weakness for designing jewellery for Meghan, so it is expected that the royal will design another stunning piece – likely to be earrings – as a Sussex surprise."
