Princess Diana’s brother Charles Spencer pays tribute to Queen Elizabeth with special cufflinks
Charles Spencer, the brother of the late Princess Diana, has paid tribute to Her Majesty the Queen on the day of her historic state funeral.
The Queen’s passing earlier this month came shortly after the 25th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death.
Taking to Twitter to pay tribute to the late monarch on this sad day, Charles posted a snap of his unique golden ‘ER’ cufflinks.
The ER, or EIIR, initials were the Royal Cypher of Queen Elizabeth II. The ER stands for Elizabeth Regina.
Sharing a snap of the exclusive cufflinks, Charles wrote: “Wearing these at Windsor today, with great sadness and pride.”

People proceeded to send their well-wishes to him ahead of the Queen’s state funeral.
“I hope today goes as well as it can. A magnificent occasion. I'm watching on the BBC and am just in awe at how everyone is coming together for this,” wrote one person.
“They are beautiful. My prayers are with everyone who will be at Windsor today,” said another.
Noting how the Queen’s funeral is likely to remind him of his late sister Diana’s, someone else added: “Thinking of you today as it will bring back memories for you”.

Many echoed similar sentiments in regards to Prince Harry and Prince William and voiced their sympathy for the two brothers who have suffered another heartbreaking loss.
In light of the Queen’s coffin procession on Wednesday 14 September, many viewers compared the scenes to that of Diana’s funeral.
One person wrote: “Harry was just 12 & William 15, when their mother Diana died. They had to walk behind their mother’s coffin with the world watching, at such tender & pivotal ages. None of us have had to do that with the world watching. So thoughts with them now. It will be triggering”.
“Watching this now and my heart really aches for Prince William & Harry last time they had to walk behind a coffin was at their late mothers Princess Diana's funeral,” wrote someone else during the procession.
William himself went on to admit that the emotional day brought back memories for him.
Discussing the matter, the air to the throne said to a member of the public who'd laid down flowers for the Queen, as per The Mirror: “He told us yesterday had been particularly difficult and following the coffin had reminded him of his mother’s funeral, of Diana. He said it had been very difficult.”
They added: "I said your mother would be so proud of you and thank you for sharing your grief with us and he said, ‘I’m learning that she was everyone’s grandmother – the way people have reacted’.”
