Queens heartbreaking words about grieving in public revealed as her family fight tears at funeral
People all over the world are today watching the funeral of the lateQueen Elizabeth II, and while it’s an emotional time for many royal fans it isno doubt even more so for the late monarch’s family.
While the majority of people are able to grieve in private when their relative dies, that is not quite the case for the Royal family, whose final goodbyes to the Queen will be witnessed on a global scale.
And with all eyes on them, they may be following the Queen’s example, who just last year mourned the loss of her late husbandPrince Philip , Duke of Edinburgh.
During the funeral of her beloved husband, who passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Queen was famously seen sitting alone during the service, as she had to socially distance from others.
Following her husband's funeral, she wrote a heartfelt note to the former Archbishop of York, John Sentamu, on the hardship of grieving in the public eye.
In an interview with the BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg, the Archbishop shared how the Queen had written him a letter thanking him for his support following Prince Philip's funeral.
While he didn’t share the entire letter he revealed that she had ended it saying: "When you are grieving someone you deeply love, it isn't easy when you're having to do it in public."
Royal commentator Victoria Arbiter reminded many royal fans of this, as she took to Twitter writing: “The former Bishop of York said the Queen wrote to him following Prince Philip’s funeral saying when you lose someone you love deeply grieving in public isn’t easy.
“Today promises to be very difficult for members of the Royal Family as they share their grief on a global stage.”
During his interview, the former Bishop of York revealed that the Queen had told him that she didn’t want her funeral to be a boring one, and that she wanted the poignant event to lift people’s spirits and warm their hearts.
